Bowen & Nadia

Some images from Bowen and Nadia’s wedding to share! They celebrated their wedding over a span of two different days - first day with gatecrashing and solemnisation ceremony at Oosh (Dempsey Road), the second day they had dinner banquet at Shangri-La Hotel (Tower Ballroom). And because the prevous entries are filled with too much wordings like ants crawling on the screen, I shall keep this short and sweet! Enjoy! :)

Heard from Raymond that one unique point of Christian Louboutin’s shoes is the signature shiny red lacquered soles! You must be wondering why there’s like at least two images of this pair of shoes. Actually it’s a surprise gift Bowen got for Nadia from Paris!

Gatecrashing is fun! For couples who find gatecrashing meaningless, maybe you can try looking at it from another point of view. I’m sure the gatecrashing segment will be one of the most memorable part of your wedding day. Perhaps you find it meaningless for the groom and merrymen to suffer while being forced to lick cucumbers and eat wasabi + tobasco filled bread. I do agree to a certain extent that it’s pretty pointless, but it’s all in the name of fun! Life would be so dull and mundane if everything is to go according to plan and perfection, if everything is to be judged by face value.

If you’d like it to be meaningful, maybe you can think of meaningful gatecrashing games like getting the groom to chain a necklace using the available materials your sisters have for them etc. At least you get to keep the necklace at the end of the day even though most probably you wouldn’t be wearing it. It’s something your beloved hubby make for you (probably that’ll be the only piece of jewellery he’ll ever make for you too! You know… Guyyyyyss). It’ll be something which I guarantee you’ll cherish, and something for you and your hubby to look back and laugh together when you both grow old. :)

Matthew & Melissa

*Clears cob web* Raymond Phang Photography would like to apologise to our dear readers and followers of this blog! It’s been way too long since our last wedding photography related entry! Raymond has been busy with his photoshoots and on his constantly “learning program” where he spends time reading up on latest photography and lighting techniques, reading up on tutorials and stuffs like that. Other times when he’s not doing the few above mentioned, he’ll be out running errands such as delivering DVDs of images, posting out snail mails, collecting albums, shopping to stock up our supplies for our studio etc.

Susulini (a.k.a Susu) has more or less settled down with Raymond Phang Photography. Feeding our grossmits (Hermit crabs), disturbing Baileys our Mascot chihuahua, raiding the fridge (she actually only raid the drinks and not the sinful food like chocolates!)! Susu not only does the editing, sometimes when we have pre-wedding shoots, she’ll tag along and help us out with the lightings and stuffs. She’s a straight forward person with a unique personality. Sometimes when she gets too carried away, she tends to forget about stuffs like formalities & manners, so please do pardon her if she has ever offended anyone of you ya? :)

As for meeeeeeee… I’m still vertically challenged (which I think will be the case forever), and horizontally empowered!! In fact, I’m getting more and more empowered! I attribute the cause to my occupation hazard. Irregular meals, super gigantic meals, and after all the sinful meals, I slam my fatty ass on the chair and grow roots infront of the monitor. :(

I’ve actually proposed an idea to my Boss – exercise at least once a week, sleep before 12 midnight, or the very least walk the dog for 30 minutes after a meal. My Boss liked the idea! Initially we followed the plan, but after 2-3 days, everybody seemed suffer from amnesia, they actually forgot about my plan. *Shakes head*

Nonetheless I hope Year 2010 have been good for everyone of you so far! :)

Here’s some images to share from Matthew & Melissa’s wedding! We met the couple quite some time back at TCC when we haven’t got our current studio yet, and I had quite a deep impression because TCC actually black out on that day and we had to walk to another restaurant to do our meet up. I remember we chatted not only about the wedding, but also on HTC phones. Hahaha! Perhaps because Melissa is an artist (she plays and teaches the Piano!!), so they’re more spontaneous in making decisions and “fearless” about doing what they really want. :)

They had two day wedding celebration, but we only managed to cover one of the days since Raymond had another shoot for their first day. We’re really glad that the couple chose us to photograph their wedding day, and after looking through the images, it makes me even more certain to have a wedding celebration like theirs! One which is super fun filled, one which is arranged specially for themselves and close friends to enjoy, instead of the typical dinner banquet at night where couples usually are clueless about 70-80% of the guests attending!! So a two day wedding would be perfect! Day 1 for family with all the traditional rituals and ceremonies to go through, Day 2 to let your hair loose and party like crazy with your friends!! :D

Enough of my naggy wordings, enjoy the images! :)

Afterwhich it’s the must have “Toss the hand bouquet” time! Guess who caught it!

Raymond Phang Photography - Actual Day Wedding Photographer

So unfair since Matthew’s status has already upgraded to Married few moments ago, so they had a Toss the bouquet again, this time without Matthew!

Raymond Phang Photography - Actual Day Wedding Photographer

I love the series from their wedding images because there’s a lot of big big smiles, laughters, and I could actually feel the joy and happiness from the images even though I wasn’t present at the wedding. :)

Having some on stage games… Hehehe…

Raymond Phang Photography - Actual Day Wedding Photographer

I wonder what foodie did the friends asked Matthew to eat, but it looks like yummy satay to me!

Raymond Phang Photography - Actual Day Wedding Photographer

Hmm… Maybe not? Wait, are these the evil sisters we usually see during the gatecrashing session  or are these angels??

Raymond Phang Photography - Actual Day Wedding Photographer

I wish I was there to witness everything cos the images make me want to know what was happening! That’s why I say Raymond is really lucky cos he not only witnessed all the Love and happy marriages during various wedding shoots, he also got to do what he love doing the most!

Raymond Phang Photography - Actual Day Wedding Photographer

Then it was time to let the hair loose and have fun dancing!!

Raymond Phang Photography - Actual Day Wedding Photographer

You really don’t have to care too much about what other people think of you, whether the folks or other random strangers would think what you’re doing is pretty shameful in their eyes. I’ve heard of couples being “scolded” by their parents right after their actual day wedding banquet ends, simply because the couple removed Sharks Fin from the course and it made the parents “lose face” because other uncles and aunties complained about it, saying nasty things like “got money hold banquet at this hotel, no money treat sharks fin” even though they replaced it with individual servings of gigantic abalone for every guests. But they cannot understand how their children felt as divers and lovers of the waters, the environment and the sea creatures.

I’ve also heard of couples absolutely detesting taking the the table to table shots and faking a smile. They actually wanted to do away with the whole banquet and have an intimate dinner/luncheon with only close friends and immediate family members but couldn’t because of the parents.  I’ve heard of couples working with too many restrictions because their parents didn’t like it. No black gown, no black theme for the banquet ballroom, must wear the traditional kua and no modern cheongsam and blablablablabla.

It’s a good thing that you’re still keeping the tradition, it’s also a very good thing that you respect your parents’ wishes because you want to be filial to them. Personally I feel that the wedding is pretty much like a show. It’s the marriage that matters. Although your Actual Day is a once in a lifetime thingy,  it’s your decision whether you’d like to have it your way, or have it their way. I agree that holding the wedding over two days will really burn a much bigger hole in your pocket. So maybe it’s a good time to save up lots lots now! And ultimately it all depends on whether you’d like your Actual Day to be a grand affair for show, or to keep it small but meaningful and purposeful. :)

Congratulations once again to Matthew and Melissa on their marriage! It takes a lot to pop the question and even more to say “I Do”. I’m glad you guys have made it, and all the best to you guys as you embark on a new journey of life together as husband and wife! :)

KC & Cindy’s actual day wedding

Before this place gets all mouldy again, here’s a quick update on KC & Cindy’s actual day wedding! Enjoy! (:

Here’s the beautiful bride – Cindy! Pretty seldom we get to see brides with short hair for their wedding day. I guess a big part of the reason goes to the lack of variety in available choices of hairstyle. But in thise case, Cindy looks radiant and very refreshing! :)

I call this the reusable wrist corsages, cos this one actually has pearls and clips instead of the usual ones where we tie around the wrist with ribbons and dump them away after the wedding.

Here’s a sneak preview of how KC looks like! It’s actually a photo mug of the couple.

If Raymond and I have such photo mugs around our place, I guess it’ll burn a real big hole in our pocket. For times when we have fights and arguments, the photo mug would be a good target to vent our frustrations since we can’t vent it on each other. Hmm… maybe we’ll print out some enlargements of ourselves and throw darts at each other’s faces when we’re angry instead. Kekeke.

So sweet. :)

KC and his band of brothers! Er… were they in their sports attire??

Evil sisters demanding “entry ticket” for their very own RIP gantry. Errr… I meant ERP gantry. Hehehe~

EEEEWW!! Evil sisters make poor brothers chew on Giant lollipops, together with Wasabi toothpaste to brush their teeth. Such deadly combo!!

And now for something auspicious – The RED UNDIES!! Must stare at this picture for a longer time because CNY is coming, and it is often said that red undies brings luck!

Somehow he reminds me of the cute cartoon character – Pucca. So cuuuute!

Source: nguoichacuanhanloai’s photostream at Flickr

I didn’t know there’s an expander thingy for the bra! I must have lived in the mountains for too long a time!

And now they revert back to childhood wearing the bibs and pacifiers.

I think the ERP gantry rate just increased again. MUWAHAHAHAHA!

The MUST HAVE contract to sign for all couples during gate crashing.

Yay! Destination reached!

I love Audi cars…… kekekeke~

Once again, Raymond’s signature car shot during Actual Day Weddings.

Proceeded on to the solemnisation ceremony.

I like this picture! The kid holding the mic is damn awesome, and the handsome boy on the right creating a frame with his two fingers! Thankfully it’s two fingers, and not the one longest finger. :p

At the end of the wedding day, here’s an awesome image specially taken for the couple.

I’ll be posting more from KC & Cindy’s wedding on our Facebook Fan Page tomorrow, so do keep a lookout for it ya! :)

Hope you guys enjoyed this series! Raymond and I gotta return to work already! Been working through the night very dilligently with the photo editings until we’re able to catch the sunrise every single day. We don’t get to sleep till about 7+, and sometimes 9+am in the morning! Phew!!

.

.

Anyway, here’s a little piece of dry but interesting joke to share with everyone for the coming lunar new year + valentine’s day:

In my 26 years of life, I have never once received any love letters from anyone on Valentine’s Day. But this year, I’m finally receiving Love Letters on Valentine’s Day! =D

Gatecrashing Ideas – Inspiration, Tips & Tricks!

I was looking through some of the past and recent wedding images taken by Raymond, and I thought it’ll be interesting to do an entry on the different gatecrashing games played by the brothers and sisters from various weddings! I left out the common leg hair waxing and bikini stuffs, and here’s a short list of games to consider! Enjoy! :)

The Simple Games

(From Paul & Evelyn’s actual day wedding on 24 October 2009)

Set a dress code, get all brothers to follow strictly. Appear for the gatecrashing with a happy spirit, do whatever you’re told to do by the lovely sisters and you’ll enjoy the happy day! Push ups are pretty common, but push ups are beneficial to your health, so why not? Make the brothers do 100 within 60 seconds! Perhaps with a bowl of eggs placed right below their tummy so that during the last few seconds when they cannot tahan anymore or cos they’re rushing to complete within time, they might land and crash on the eggs, or roll over to the side and bang into the brother next to them, and all of them fall like dominos. Muwahahahaha! You can replace eggs for ice, or water or flour, or anything you desire! (:

BYO- Bring Your Own

(From Desmond & Jolene’s actual day wedding on 25 October 2009)

I think the brothers are smart enough to make it a Two Way Bargaining session. The brothers came prepared, brought their own suitcase of treasure with ang pows. No idea what’s the least and maximum amount in the ang pow, but the sister had to make a choice. Interestingggg…

Scary Foodies

(From Edwin & Eunice’s actual day wedding on 21 November 2009)

Lemons are sourrrrr! How will lemon taste if you coat it with an extra layer of Citric Acid??? Muwahahahaha!! Maybe coat the lemon with citric acid, then rub it on any body part of one of the selected brother….. and…. the groom…. shall…. LICK IT CLEAN! Kekeke.

(From Guan Lim & Jeslin’s actual day wedding on 4 October 2008)

Speaking of Licking, here’s one of our all time favourite gatecrashing game. Guan Lim being the smart aleck, answered TOES to the sisters’ question of “Which part of Jeslin’s body is his favourite.” Tsk tsk tsk, and thus he had to lick off the whipped cream on the brother’s toes. Not all sisters are evil to think of tricky tricky questions to land you in trouble you know. Sometimes they meant well, no harm! :p

(From Andrew & Clarice’s actual day wedding on 11 October 2008)

However there’s always the exception – the Evil sisters. They’ll mix and match the weirdest stuffs on earth like smelly rotten beancurd with perhaps wasabi or bananas or other gooey stuffs altogether. Eeeeew! But weird food stuffs are generally discouraged for fear that the groom and his merrymen will puke and shit in their pants. Don’t let this moment of “folly” spoil the whole day ya?

(From Hiro & Serena’s actual day wedding on 7 December 2008)

Playing on the groom’s fear might be good. Chilli padi or single food stuff are alright, just don’t mix, and don’t use food/drinks that you obviously know the poor groom has an allergy to.

(From Kuan Wee & Pei Yu’s actual day wedding on 31 December 2008)

And for the greedy merrymen, sometimes the prettiest thing might look good, but not necessary taste good. ;)
This evil plate of dish made Kuan Wee spat from the second level to the first, and the poor dog dog sprinted to lick it all up. =_=”

Sexy Sexy – The Role Reversal Game

(From John & Ei-leen’s actual day wedding on 7 September 2008)

The evil sisters somehow enjoy seeing guys dress themselves up as women! So it’s inevitable that the merrymen will have to go through this.

(From Andrew & Clarice’s actual day wedding on 11 October 2008)

Other ways of dressing up the guy. No need for bikini cos bikini looks good only on skin and not clothes! Unless the merrymen strips…. now that’s another question altogether…

(From Hiro & Serena’s actual day wedding on 7 December 2008)

Make them danceeeeee!

(From Jonald & Yutong’s actual day wedding on 7 November 2009)

Such an intimate physical body contact! I think the ladies never fails to go Gaga when they see things like this! Hahahaha! This is Entertainment! :p

(From Jonald & Yutong’s actual day wedding on 7 November 2009)

How about some kissy kissy? Kekeke! Next time shall make them do away with the “safety barrier”!!

(From Jonald & Yutong’s actual day wedding on 7 November 2009)

Next, the brother had to chew off this buns on the groom’s chest cos inside the buns there’s a secret note and they have to follow the instructions written on it to proceed on to the next stage.

(From Jerry & Michelle’s actual day wedding on 6 October 2009)

This is pretty “man”, but pretty R(A) too!! *covers eye*

(From Richard & Wendy’s actual day wedding on 9 May 2009)

What a cute “bra” Richard is holding on close to his chest! He had to sing and dance while wearing this, but being cheeky, Richard even placed it on his head to make it look like… I don’t know, a genetically modified Mickey Mouse? Muwahahahaha!

The Innocent Games

(From Teck Yong & Wanling’s actual day wedding on 20 September 2009)

Create something out of the things the groom really detest, and find ways to make it stay with the groom throughout the entire gate crashing! In this case, the groom really hates Mushroom, so the clever sisters made a super cute mushroom earing and headband for the groom to wear! Real mushrooms! Innocent enough, right?

(From Morrison & Rachel’s actual day wedding on 2 August 2009)

This can be an innocent game, but can be quite a torture as well. You know… with age…. your bones have all stiffened up… so… you can’t really go…. that… L….O…..W…..

(From Koh & Ting Yin’s actual day wedding on 29 May 2009)

An innocent game too! Yoga is fun, yoga is healthy! Has anyone seen Yoda doing Yoga? I think it’ll be funny! Get the brothers to dress up as Yoda and do the Yoga!!

(From Herman & Janet’s actual day wedding on 19 April 2009)

Diapers? Disposable undies? *scratch head* It’s so innocent, kids can join in and play too! :D

Usually the sisters will draw the initials of the bride onto the diapers/undies and make them wear it on their butt, perform a cute sexy little dance and that’s all. Easy and simple!

Gather the Troops!

(Taken from Lionel & Angel’s actual day wedding on 17 November 2007)

When all things fail, leave it to the elderly!!

Ah-Ma says: “Eh, kui meng ah! buay sai sng liao, xi gan gao liao!” Which literally means, open the door, stop playing, time’s up!! You know how particular the elderly folks are about the auspicious timing? Always recruit a granny in your band of brothers!

(From Win-son & Faith’s actual day wedding on 29 November 2009)

And if the evil sisters make you eat something which you do not want to eat, flash your Ace card and win the battle!

(From Win-son & Faith’s actual day wedding on 29 November 2009)

Ah-ma says humph, 放马过来吧!(release your horse to me). Give me another 10 and I’ll gobble them all the same!! Ah-ma power!!

(From Jack & Grace’s actual day wedding on 1 January 2009)

Make sure they’re all dressed in black to appear scaaaaary! And also please try to include at least ONE charismatic brother. Once you have that in your checklist, half the battle is won. :p

(From Terence & Jann’s actual day wedding on 18 October 2009)

This time round, the poor photographer was roped in to help the sisters with the preparation. They placed lip gloss on Raymond’s lips and he had to put his sexy lipstick mark on the piece of paper together with the bride and other sister’s lipstick marks. But guess which one did the groom picked? Raymond’s!!! Hahahahaha!

Convert thy Enemy, or convert Thyself

(From John & Ei-leen’s actual day wedding on 7 September 2008)

The brother actually tried to bully the poor boy and make him eat the banana on his behalf. Tsk tsk tsk. Luckily boy boy was smart enough not to eat! Attempt at converting – FAIL! :p

(From Kok Meng & Cassies actual day wedding on 3 October 2009)

Poor Kok Meng had to do the push up all by himself!! Noticed that all the brothers did nothing but stood and watch at a side?? Luckily the groom was super duper fit enough to finish everything by himself!! Cassie has gotten herself a fit fit groom! Booboo to the nuanua brothers, and see what the groom has to say in the above image! :p

Aww so sweet

(From Chye Tuan & Siang Yin’s actual day wedding on 10 May 2009)

Groom and merrymen singing sweet sweet love song for the bride. Look how much the groom is enjoying it. So sweet!! :)

Seal the Deal

(From Ho Wei & Eileen’s actual day wedding on 6 June 2009)

Usually the sisters will help the bride prepare a pretty contract like this one, where the groom puts his signature and agree to all the terms and conditions stated on the contract. Conditions such as giving all the monthly salary and bonuses to the wife, promise not to be angry with each other at the end of the day if they ever quarrel, do housework blablala… which I think is pretty bogus! Cos after the couple put both their signature on the piece of paper call the marriage certificate, the terms and conditions stated on this contract automatically becomes invalid. So in order to prevernt such things from happening, engage a lawyer and have a reeeeal one made! :p

The OH-MY-OH-MY GOODNESS!!

(From Jonald & Yutong’s actual day wedding on 7 November 2009)

Have you seen THIS?? Such a scary piece of…. CHOCOLATE!! It’s actually the leftover chocolate from the bride’s hen party the night before. This “creature” was not supposed to be shown and used and displayed to the world, until Yutong’s mummy suddenly thought of it and suggested that they make full use of this for the gate crashing!

(From Michael & Dorothy’s actual day wedding on 19 September 2009)

See, even Michael thought it’s scary! Muwahahaha! Actually no lah, the bride was waking in and at that moment Michael only have eyes for her – the world’s most beautiful bride in his eyes. :)

.

.

Okie dokie, end of my sharing! Just a very few tips to share, so hope it’s at least a little bit useful! :)

(From Paul & Evelyn’s actual day wedding on 24 October 2009)

Have fun!! And be spontaneous!!

A short update

Here’s a few long overdue pictures to share! Taken with my dummy camera on 26 November 2009 when we brought Michelle out for some Ramen lovin’ during her visit to Singapore! We actually photographed their wedding in July last year, and the couple went over to Sydney since then cos Sam is an Australian and they’re currently based in Sydney. It was Susulini’s first time meeting Michelle, and even Susulini agrees that Michelle’s laughter is damn ultra infectious! You really gotta meet Michelle in person to get a taste of her infectious laughter! :)

She went back to Aussie already, but thanks to Technology and the wonders of BBM, we’re still able to keep in touch! :)

I call this the 三朵金花. 3 stalks of gold flowers. Hahaha!

Then we placed the dummy camera somewhere to snap pictures of us all together!

Look at Susulini’s expression!! =_=

This one looks like some Adam’s Family quirky family portrait. Muwahahaha!! With Baileys’ censored PP!! Too bad Sam couldn’t join us in Singapore. I’m so looking forward to our next meeting (in Sydney hopefully!!)! Hope they’re doing well with their house shifting and painting! Must be very fun!! :)
