Leap of Faith – Our couple actually did a cross dressed thematic shoot for their pre-wedding. It was a known fact that the groom rarely had pictures of him taken.. he doesn’t like it somehow.. but I think it must be the power of love, he actually agreed to do a conceptualised pre-wedding shoot with us. Imagine a person dislike having pictures of him taken, yet agree to spend a full day accommodating to our requests for the photoshoot!!! We were so touched and honoured because the groom was really super co-operative! And he must have love the bride so much to agree. SALUTE for Private and Confidential!!

Love – One of the romantic series from Amy and Roy’s conceptualised pre-wedding shoot at the Museum. It’s kinda hard for us to do romantic cos we need to like… feel a triple dosage of love until we get soooo inspired to do a romantic one. But it turned out well, pretty classic. :)

Celebration – Same couple as the “Love” piece, they had a shoot done on the Sundown marathon day itself. This was sort of a one shot one kill image, and we had to clean up the floor after that. Slippery floor will pose as a hazard for other runners coming in right after, especially when this is the finishing line where the runners will usually chiong their way in.

Shiok Shiok Curry Pok – Conceptualised pre-wedding in New Zealand, South Island. Super love this farm… not a very big farm, but I love it for the beautiful friendship/relationship between the animals, how they were able to co-exist together in harmony. I’ve never seen pigs, horses and sheeps “playing” together, and I’ve never witnessed on live how piggy can sneak out for a little tour and came back through the same hole he sneaked out from! It’s like watching Animal farm or Babe the movie!

Goose Bumps – Conceptualised Pre-Wedding in PRAGUE, at the Prague castle! Woohoo! Prague is quite a romantic place, and we’d love to go back there if not for the crowd. I think it’ll be beautiful to go during the cold winter season, but be prepared to freeze like hell. We were already freezing when we went there for the shoot in April. Again, gained weight like hell cos we couldn’t resist the good food. All the joggings from the ups and downs to carry lights and equipments didn’t help at all. Grrr… This is from the romantic series, more crazy ones to come from the Prague shoot!!

I don’t give a fart – Conceptualised pre-wedding shoot at Sepang Circuit (KL). Subang was a damn awesome place with awesome good food!! We flew there on FireFly airline, the propellor plane was suuuuuuupeeeerrrrrrrr awesomeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! The G-force was so shiok, service was fantastic, crew was friendly and we’d love to fly with Firefly again!! The food there was yummy, black noodle was so yummy with the black sauce, the fried rice, the bak kut teh, the steamed beancurd buried below the rice, the planta prata, the bandung was super shiok and we gained weight from the trip. Can’t help it when our couple was such a good host!!

There’s many more to come from the conceptualised pre-wedding shoots! Recently we’ve been receiving quite a number of enquiries from couples to do conceptualised pre-wedding with us, and it’s on rare occurrence we get super loony couples who are riding on the same wave as us to do things crazy enough. We get a lot of crazy ideas in our brain, especially when we don’t get good sleep and we keep having dreams about weird stuffs. Believe it or not, we actually have 3 people throwing the food for this shot!! Chopped carrots, Spaghetti, dried mushroom, green apple, chilli padi, corn, there were oranges or something as well but I guess it missed the frame. We had fun throwing the food, and some of it hit the ceiling, the whole place was super messy after that (felt really bad about it though), sometimes an apple will land on the couple’s head or thighs as well….. but they were really professional, and gave us awesome expression! Fearless, nonchalent, and not a blink of eye. NICE!
 
 

This was a hot and stuffy shot – it’s actually an “oven” to dry the paintwork of the car and we were actually waiting for the oven timer to go off before we went in to do the shoot cos they had a car inside for drying. I guess the spray of water was an enjoyment in this case. Everyone was hot and hungry and thirsty during this shoot, and they had to wait while Raymond set up his angle and lights, but look at their expression!

This is actually a real place where we managed to recce for the shoot. The planet Earth was fake though… kekeke. But I like it!

Contrary to the belief that the lunatics at Raymond Phang Photography are dummies to Romance, we present you with our latest pre-wedding work from New Zealand – TADAH!
 

Kudos to Colin and Emily the awesome for braving the wind so strong it can almost carry us away, and the teeth gritting cold that instantaneously transformed us all with chicken skin!
 

Getting this shot of the couple – sitting in the SUV holding hot steamy coffee mug in their hands, with the tent and a mini campfire isn’t all just me. I am extremely proud of my team that made it all possible – Angeline for making sure everyone is comfortable, art directing (nit picking so that the final image comes out as envisioned), holding lights and getting her hands all extremely icky preparing the Vaseline for the campfire. Not to mention Susu our talented awesome Digital imaging artist, who helped picked the dry wood and got a splinter on her finger as a result, hold lights, run around chasing tents that flew away in the strong wind and working her ass off back in the studio to put the final image together.
 

Colin was our “guest assistant” helping us to set up the tent and mini campfire, holding our “secret weapon” together with Susu in the wind (extreme arm muscle training!) to shoot the car panel so that it looks just right, both risking their eyes being blinded by the flash gun that Angeline was holding in the process. Colin didn’t have to do anything originally, but for the sake of protecting his princess Emily from suffering in the cold, he sacrificed. *bite lips with a distant look – everyone please say awwwww*
 

Without this awesome team I would not have gotten away with this image. I am truly blessed. This single image alone took a total of 4.5 hours from the beginning (setting up the scene) to the end (packing up in the wilderness) and when the camera was in the midst of capturing the startrails, I could clearly see Angeline and Susu dozing off in the car and that really pains me. We worked hard and played hard, and we hope this image is well worth our efforts.
 
I can’t wait to share the rest of the images from the New Zealand and Prague shoot!! One of the bestest things that we did in Year 2011!!

Pre-wedding images aside, here are a quick few shots from our New Zealand travel.

We drove all the way from North Island down to South Island – it was free and easy, and we drove all the way up to the Sand Dunes when we were on our way to Cape Reinga. Love the sand dunes, cold nice fine sand!! So we had to take a group shot there. Hehehe.
 

Next we went to this mini waterfall, and I had to take a picture with grumpy Su. :p
 

And we went to Cafe Eutopia!! Quaint little place selling organic yummies, and I bought a really pretty pendant called the Tree of Life. AHHHH!!! So many things to share on my travel!! I wish I had the time to post the images we took and the places we went to and the things we experienced!!

I bet you guys must have watched at least 1 episode of the movie – Lord of the Rings. Well, few years back before the movie production started, we thought we could sneakily fly ourselves to them for the movie casting, get ourselves chosen and earn some quick bucks.

Raymond was hoping he could land himself in the role of the handsome Legolas and all… but unfortunately his hair wasn’t long enough, and his botak head couldn’t hold the wig well, so he got kicked out. The director wanted to use his botak head as a prop or reflector, but Raymond declined the offer and continued photographing weddings back here in Singapore.

Susu wanted to be Gollum cos she thought Gollum looked reeeeally special, especially with the husky voice that goes “my prrrrreciouss”…  But too bad Susu didn’t make it to the cut cos all she thought about was the Onion Ring from Burger King, plus the late night intensive gamings during the previous nights made her eyes looked ultra sleepy. Gollum was supposed to have bigger eyes, or should I say soulful eyes. In the end Susu got sent back, and reluctantly came back to RPP doing Digital Imaging work.

I was eyeing to play Frodo. Being the most bimbotic of all, the reason I gave was simply because Frodo was supposed to be a Hobbit, and Hobbit sounds pretty cute, like rabbit!! Unfortunately I did not make the cut as well with that un-cute sausage lips of mine which looked like they chewed on land mines and exploded a million times over. So here I am, back in SOHO growing roots infront of the computer and expanding the base around my waistline.

Life went on, and one fine day, the calling came for us to create our very own fantasy! We have finally decided to come up with this plan to fulfill our dreams. Come April next year, the LOTR rejected cast will set foot on the New Zealand soil (both the north and south island), to stage our very own version of the LOTR!! But us being weirdos, forever thinking out of the box and all, decided on our own movie title –  the Lord of the Onion Rings – The return of big fart king!! MUWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Staring: Raymond as Arwen – maybe Legolas is a bit too far fetched, but Arwen has the long flowy hair too. Raymond has got like 4 months to grow his hair to be long like Arwen’s, so shouldn’t be a problem. Kekeke.
 
 
 
 

Susu will play Gandalf this time round, but because we will be working hard on the laptop at night when we get back to our inn after a day’s adventure, I guess Susu won’t be able to rid the sleepy eyes too. So this is Gandalf Susu with sleepy eyes, and still thinking about the Onion Rings.
 
 
 
 

I will play Gollum this time round. No special reason, well, maybe because Gollum sounds cute, like Goli (marble). Round round one… Muwahahahaha~!
 
  

We are inviting 2 pairs of couples to join us for a pre-wedding photoshoot scheduled in between our personal adventures!
 
  

We will be spending most of our personal time chasing cows, scaring sheeps, baking ourselves silly under the sun until smoke comes out, rolling all over the green green grasses and cow poo, drooling and snoring like sea and thunder,  stuffing our faces with food, dozing off on the road and trying to jab each other’s eyes to keep ourselves awake while driving etc.
 
  

Currently we have already garnered the support from Hero and Heroine like Colin & Emily for South Island of New Zealand, scheduled for 8 April 2011. The couple has been most helpful, sharing with us information and bought us pancakes to munch on when we met them on Wednesday!!

Here’s an interesting time lapse composite from thousands of images taken on the wedding day into a single slideshow which looks like a video. This time lapse is captured from a Groom’s perspective of the Wedding Day – getting off and on the car, gatecrashing, unveiling the bride etc. On the wedding day while Raymond focus on his candid shots, Dominic is the man behind the “Groom’s perspective” where he captured the thousands of images just for this project. It is definitely not an easy task putting all the images together, summarising the entire wedding luncheon into a less than 4 minutes slideshow.
 
 

A break away from the usual montage taken from a third person’s perspective, this time lapse on an actual day wedding is a first in the wedding industry, brought to you by Raymond Phang Photography and Synesthesia. So I thought what a great way to grow up quickly and be like the adults! End up for all the remaining Winter Solstice festival, I never fail to stuff my face with the glutinous rice balls which came in various fillings such as peanut, black sesame, red bean etc. Come to think of it, I was so darn naive to believe! And guess what, I scooped the number of glutinous rice balls into my ball accordingly to the age I wanted to be. Then I asked them does it mean that if I am 10 years old and I eat 10 this year, I’ll be 20 years old? But what happens if next year I’m already 20, means I cannot eat anymore else I’ll become 30 years old? No. Apparently there’s a COUNTER RESET for every year. *Faints*
 

Now that we have all grown up to be young adults already, I wish I can vomit out all the glutinous rice balls I ate and turn back the time. Things are happening real fast, and moments kept whizzing by like the wind. Too fast for me to catch, too quickly disappeared. I only hope every single adult who happens to be reading this will really slow down their pace, listen to their own heartbeat and breathing. Don’t waste your life by doing nothing at all or being too busy. Indeed moderation is the key to life.
 

Anyway, on 5 August 2010, Raymond attended the award ceremony for the ASEAN Young Photographers’ Award 2010. He was the award recipient representing Singapore and he had to dress in the national dress or formal attire. With Time as the limit factor, we were not able to source for an appropriate national dress for Raymond, and being bugged with truckloads of work to do, we could only fly down to Zara at Vivocity to do a super last minute shopping on the day itself with Chris Woon being the fashion consultant. I’m kinda used to calling him Lao Woon though. Muwahahahaha!
 

So for those who haven’t seen Raymond in formal, here’s a few pictures taken along the corridoor of our studio at Central.

Lao Woon helped a lot with the selection of outfits, which inner shirt to match with the coat, what color for the tie goes best with the overall look etc! Next time if any guys need to go shopping can ask Lao Woon along! He’s pretty fashionable and very straight to the point, nice will tell you nice, not nice will tell you not nice.

Now that the event is over, the entire outfit goes right into the wardrobe to grow mushrooms. I was telling him the next time he’ll be wearing it would probably be our ROM, or Actual Day wedding already. HAHAHAHA! =p

I’ve always enjoyed looking through images with sword bearers present during the wedding. No particular reason, but I thought the guys looked really smart in their uniform! Kekeke!
 

Some of the guys will make things “difficult” for you, they’ll cross their swords and either make the couple kiss each other, or make the groom carry the bride all the way to the stage.

While the guests were happily mingling away, the couple were up at their suite getting ready for the second march in.

And this as well! I love the series probably because personally for me, the feel is there. The subtle and abstract forms.. something like you don’t have to explain much or show everything, so it allows even greater room for people to exercise their creativity and interpretation!
 

The couple rode in for their second march in, and this particular image got us a first place in the 2010 Q1 Wedding Photojournalist Association contest for the ceremony category.
 

It’s not an easy feat for the couple to ride in, because the flooring of the ballroom was really slippery even with the red carpet! But very glad that everything went well smoothly for them!

Andrew and Sylvia invited us and the brothers+sisters who helped out at the wedding to their new place last month and we had a feast of yummy food! They had a cement screed flooring done up for their kitchen, and their place look really cosy with the long wooden table + benches. Very raw feeling, both Raymond and I love the idea to bits! Hehehe! We’ll see you guys again soon when Satin is abit more settled down and we’ll let Satin, Bailey and Rusti have a ball of a time k!! Hehehehe~

On a side note, ever since we shifted to SOHO 1 @ Central a year ago, we haven’t share any images of our studio yet. Here’s one taken without the lights on. It’s actually a loft with a ceiling height of about 4.5m to 4.75m, which is more than enough for us to build a mezzanine floor to make it a duplex. A little complicating, so we will probably consolidate a few images to share for the next entry especially when there’s a frequent “breakout” of fireworks these few days due to the Youth Olympic Games.
 

Susu might also be sharing some of her awesome cat images which were selected for exhibition!! I’ll go bug her on Monday to blog! Muwahahahaha! Good night!

Recently we’ve gotten news of quite a few couple of ours who’re expecting with a baby! Yesterday was Cassie’s birthday, and we got news that they’re expecting Little Kok Meng, due in November! So happy for them!!! And also we just received news from Sam and Michelle that their son was born on 27 July 2010!! So awesome! Can’t wait to visit them in Sydney! Also a biiiig congratulations to Laurie and Agnes + Edwin and Chew Ling who just gave birth last month! Not forgetting Terence and Jann + Herman & Janet who is due in August too!! Wah, so excited for all of them taking the next step of their new journey!! May all our couples pop more little boy boy and little girl girl, and be very much more in love than before!
 

That aside, here’s some images taken from Paul and Marilyn’s wedding this year in April. They had Singapore’s best wedding planner (awarded by Singapore Tatler) - The Wedding Entourage plan their wedding with a Disney Princess theme for the evening banquet session. I think they did a wonderful job with the coordinating, looking into every single detail of the wedding down to the timing schedules and the customs! Heard from Marilyn that The Wedding Entourage only takes on a certain number of wedding assignments to ensure that they give the best of their time and attention to plan for the couple’s wedding. Very exclusive and committed indeed! I also learnt from Raymond that the planners offer sincere and honest advices to couples (especially Caroline), so I’m very sure couples will definitely feel the assurance.
 

Paul and Marilyn engaged a second photographer – Kaya Ow – for the more formal shots, and also had Yang from Substance Films for Video. Their banquet was held at Grand Copthorne Waterfront hotel, with a beautifully and massively decorated ballroom (flowers and decor by Boenga). I can’t put in words how much effort was made for the preparation to make this wedding a successful and memorable one for the couple, but one thing for sure, Paul and Marilyn enjoyed themselves thoroughly on their wedding day!

Really sweet and docile girl with a gentle temperament! She doesn’t bark, you can carry her and place her in any position you want, and she won’t move! So we’re now known as BRASS – Bailey, Raymond, Angeline, Sulin and Satin!

We decided to take a short break from our work and editing in our studio, so we thought why not let’s take a picture together. Here’s just one of the image from the series which I’ll share with you guys on a seperate entry another time. Raymond acting like Superman gone wrong (where’s the inside out underwear??), I’m feeling all angsty for no reason (menopause maybe??), Baileys guarding his post (the toilet bowl), Susu all drunk and stoning (see the bottle of Baileys in her hand!).
 

The new blog has flexible width to maximise the viewing size of images unlike the old one which was maxed out at 500 pixels. Next on, as I was browsing through Raymond Phang Photography’s Facebook Page, I chanced upon this Youtube Video. The title of the video “Elderly couple of 62 years plays piano” caught my attention. I rarely click on the videos posted by friends on Facebook because I thought it’ll take time loading, and I’ll have to spend time watching, which I could have used the waiting + watching time for work. But this one felt pretty worth the time waiting and watching, so I decided to check it out.
 

Here’s the video description – “An elderly couple walked into the Mayo clinic for a check up and spotted a piano. They have been married for 62 years, and he will be 90 this year. Check out this impromptu performance. We are only as old as we feel, it’s all attitude. Enjoy! They certainly do”

I thought it’s a super sweet video clip!! So sweet of the couple to play the piano together, and play it so well at this age! So sweet of them to be such a good sport for an impromptu performance! So sweet that the couple still feel for each other after 62 long years of marriage! So much zest and energy coming from them, to me it just felt like they’re only in their 20s or their courtship period!! In fact I felt so ashamed that even though I am not married and have not even walk through half the journey of a century, I already feel all old and tired and sickly!! Urgh!!

I do envy them a lot and feel really happy for them. Even though it’s 62 long years of marriage, they’re still so much in love with each other and the number of years being married to each other is really just a number. I would like to dedicate this video to all couples out there looking for their one true love, getting married, or already married, and I wish you love. :)

As promised, here’s something from a wedding shoot to share. Currently we have quite a few backlogs of images from weddings this year to share on the blog, so it’ll take quite a while before we go to the very recent works! Hehehe. The following are from Yikai and Fei Ling’s collection of ROM images to share. The couple engaged our service for both their ROM and Actual Day this year in January and May respectively. Their ROM was held at 1TwentySix at East Coast Parkway, Playground @ Big Splash. Pretty nice place for chill-out, with both indoor and outdoor area accommodating up to about a maximum of 250 guests. It’s a little bit more romantic in the evening when you get to enjoy the nice cooling sea breeze, but for the nature lover, you’ll get to enjoy the view of the the lush greenery.

Okie back to the Taiwan trip, it’s my first time in Taiwan, and Guan + Jes were kind enough to bring us around! They were so pro and familiar with the streets and lanes and alleys, so whatever you do, just follow closely behind them you’ll be on the right track! We went to soooo many places from Taipei （台北） to Tai Chung （台中）to most of the major night markets such as shi lin ye shi （士林夜市），shi da ye shi（師大夜市），rao he ye shi（饒河夜市）, the famous shopping belt (wu fen pu/五分铺)， 西门町 and IT Geek’s paradise guang hua shang chang (光华商场), my most favourite place jiu fen (九份)!!

Fuwah! I like jiu fen precisely because it is an old town. I tend to like things associated with old… but maybe not in few years down the road when I officially gain the title of Auntie-ship. :p

The meal served… I finished the fruit, the bun and brownie cake!

Main course – Chicken with rice and broccoli.

Poor Raymond didn’t manage to eat anything because he was more interested in sleeping. He’s actually been working on a batch of editing, and finally completed about 1-2 hours before our flight time! So end up we had to once again, rush and drive a little faster than usual to reach the airport in time.

So nice of them to put a little sticker right infront of Raymond’s seat so that when he wakes up he’ll see this.

Landed, cleared customs, took a Taxi and since we are all youths, we checked in to YMCA Taipei! MUWAHAHAHAHAHA!!

The room was pretty big, with a bathroom in the living room, a huge balcony, 2 rooms, and 1 ensuite bathroom as well!

After we dumped all our bags and stuffs, we went trottering around the city.

First stop, one of the must visit stall for the couple whenever they visit Taipei!

This stall sells a huge variety of food poked through little skewers. You’ll have to pick the ones you like and place them in the red basket, the chef will then prepare them for you, by boiling them in a special pot of gravy sauce.

While the boys were busy queuing outside for the food, I snapped a picture of my bargain buy! A dual slot adapter for my micro SD adapter, and also 2 pieces of Sandisk 16gb micro SD card! I cannot remember the price, but it was a good buy so we grabbed them! It’s supposed to be placed in my PSP, but my PSP is currently rotting in one deep dark depressing corner… no time to play!

Here comes the foodie!! It’s actually two super huge plates of food consisting of yummy noodles, fishcake, mushrooms, egg, cabbages, chilli sauce, beancurd skins, luncheon meat, and the weird weird black looking thing which they conspired to cheat me into eating! We’ll talk about the conspiracy later, but more on the food now. Wah this plate of messy looking thing is actually power packed with lots of flavour!! Sooooo rich in flavour, the gravy is not oily and not sticky, the cabbage is soooooooooo sweet that it’ll make you suspect whether they’ve actually planted the cabbage in a plot of Sugar Land! The noodle looks like any ordinary instant noodle, but with the sauce, it really tastes heavenly! *drools*
 

This black piece of thing, is actually PIG’S BLOOD!!! They bluff me and say it’s glutinous rice… I didn’t quite like the texture, but ate it anyway… have to give face mah!!!

Finished dinner, we went for walk walk, snacking along the way with fruits and ice cream!

The little tiny shops along the alley sells pretty unique clothings and accesories for ladies! We went into this shop while the guys were Q-ing for icecream/yogurt, there were tons and tons of beautiful hairbands, keychains etc! I saw a few that I like, but they were pretty pricey, so I see only. Then I saw another keychain which I super duper love! A wooden keychain with a picture of this cute little cartoon character. Didn’t get it in the end too cos of the price. Well I guess maybe because it’s a pretty popular spot with non stop crowd and very high flow of human traffic, so the rental must be pretty expensive too.

Next we went to a litte pub to chill out! It’s really little… very crampy at the upper level, the steps were super duper steep too!

Not forgetting the place was a little warm, even Jeslin had to bun up her hair~
 

We ordered some beer and while waiting, Guan was happily snapping away.

Reviewing the images~

One of the beer we ordered was super horrendous, smells like the chinese medicinal ointment, and tasted like cough syrup.I cannot remember what flavour the beer was, but in any case, they left the entire bottle pretty much untouched after that one fateful sip.

One of the stalls selling cheap clothings! It’s really depressing shopping in Taipei if your figure is a little bit big. Raymond gave up finding shoes because he couldnt even fit into the biggest available size they have in Taipei. When he was browsing through some jeans, the shopkeeper came over and told us don’t bother to try because no matter how Raymond try to squeeze, he will never fit into the jeans. SO UPSET AND DEMORALISING!!!

But think of the bright side, at the very least the shopkeepers are honest! They won’t lie to you and tell you things like “Go ahead and buy it! This looks good on you, confirm can fit, don’t need to try!”

I actually had diahrrea the entire night and couldn’t sleep well. Up till next morning, stomach still wasn’t feeling too well, so I had to stay in the room while they went down for brekkies first. So Jes made me this super bitter yucky chinese drink with damn potent powder supposed to stop diahrrea. I drank it all up and felt a little better, so we went out altogether. I wondered how come the air was so dusty and everything looked pretty blurry to us. End up my parents texted me that there’s news of Sand/Dust storm reported in Taipei.

It’s a super messy place for first timer, and confirm you’ll miss out on one of the lanes, but Guan and Jes was so experienced!

Wooooo, yum yum!!

The snacks they have are all sooooo delicious!! My favourite has to be the giant crispy chicken cutlet/chop, and also the hu jiao bing （胡椒饼）! Wah can never forget the smell and aroma… the ka-zi ka-zi sound when you bite into the pipping hot piece of crispy chicken. Sooooo crispy and the marination of spices makes everything tastes nice! The meat is not very tough, and definitely not very dry! Oh my hu jiao bing… Jes and I had to queue for quite some time to purchase 5 of the buns… crispy on the outside, soft and sooooooo chewy on the inside! I’m fascinated with the texture of the dough! How can something taste so Q!! The fillings inside the bun was pretty generous too, and you might want to be careful when you take a bite, because the soup/gravy/oil will pe-zi out unexpectedly! 

Which reminds me that it was also my first time trying chou dou fu (臭豆腐) too!!! Raymond forced me to take a bite and I was extremely reluctant to because the smell was too pungeant I could puke instantly if I take another whiff!! End up that one single bite I took confirmed my dislike for the smelly beancurd. Super duper smelly and I cannot understand why people like to eat something that is so smelly!!! What’s worse is the taste will linger in your mouth like forever even after you’ve brushed your teeth, scraped your tongue and also the insides of your cheek for the Nth time!! Horrible horrible!!

Raymond loves the shooting games. He had to use the air gun to hit all the ballons on the spinning wheel to win a prize.

Next up, Guan’s turn. He had to shoot the plastic holder and make sure it tears and drop onto the net in order to win the amount of money taped to the plastic holder. Bullets were cork pellet, not easy to aim and shoot!!

Then I bought a Harajuku Lovers perfume! I bought one in Aussie few years back and both the one in Aussie + Taipei is cheaper than Singapore! Also bought a few cans of giant beer!! Cannot remember how many litre was this!! One person cannot even finish, and we bought a can back for Raymond’s dad.

Reach back at the hotel, my stomach aches again. So I tried to negotiate business with the toilet bowl. Who knows this time it’s CONSTIPATION… Jes’ medicine was super duper potent indeed!!! O_O”

Took a first class train to Tai Chung! The train station and system was a little messy with a few different typs of train available.

But I was impressed with the first class cabin! The leg room is soooooooooooooo freaking spacious, seats were all clean and comfortable, there’s a train cabin master assigned to the first class cabin, free flow of peanuts/drinks. You can even bring your own food/drinks on board, and you won’t get a fine! Another amazing thing, you can actually turn the seats around to face the people behind you. Of course you do that only when you have your friends/family sitting behind, else it might be very awkward for the stranger having to face you for the whole journey.

The lu rou fan (卤肉饭) is something you must try in Taiwan! They usually come in a small tiny bowl, with a scoop of brown gravy and fatty meat on top. Very, very sinful, but very, very yummy!! Another rice you must try would be the you fan （油饭）. It literally means oily rice from a direct chinese translation. I love it like crazy. Although the name says it’s oily rice, it’s actually not oily at all! It doesnt have ingredients like prawns or carrots or ikan bilis insde, it’s just a normal looking plain brown colored rice. Nothing that will catch your eyes. But once you try it….. WAH!! You wonder how come something that looks so plain can taste sooooo nice!! I really wonder how they cook all the dishes… and I wonder why we cannot find such flavours locally in Singapore. I am also very amazed by the fact that so much sinful food, so much eatings to do, and the people still managed to stay so slim! Everyone of them!! *Jealous*

A nice group photo of us at this quaint little tea house. Very nice and serene atmosphere, and you’ll really feel like composing some chinese poems and sipping chinese tea at the same time. Too bad I had a glass of fruit juice, cos the grumpy me just felt like having some juices. :p

We went into this little shop call Lavender Cottage or something, and they sell very cute stuffs, all plants and Lavender related! Jes and I ended up spending a lot of time in that shop, buying quite a number of stuffs. Because I’m a person who likes music, and I’m also attracted to all things with music (probably explained why I picked the Music Harajuku Lovers in the first place), so when I saw they had acrylic photo frames where you can pull the tab and music will go off, I fell in loveeeeeee… What’s also special is that they music pieces are all unique and a few are composed by their in house pianist/composer! NICE!!

They also had a choo choo train set, nice lavender pillows for babies, and lots of other stuffs! I think I’ll go back there again if I ever visit Jiu fen the next time.

That’s also where I got my caps! Mr Spongebob actually saw me through quite a number of pre-wedding shoots. Hehehe.

Currently we have tons and tons of wedding backlogs to edit and share, so do be patient with us while we find the time to update constantly ya? We’ll also have images from Raymond’s editorial shoot in Silk Road (where he met with some misfortune during his birthday), some images of our long overdue Kelong trip as SAR, maternity shots (yes, maternity), more amazing pre-wedding images (confirm never seen before, once in 16 years and never again), and more images of recent actual day weddings! We just did one for Kenny and Sherry’s AD on 3 July 2010 (super popular date!), one of the group shot taken for the groom and the brothers is really nice! To the brothers, the sacrifices your shoes made were all very much worth it!

At present, Raymond is enslaved to the nation for his Reservist and running his ass off to make sure he pass that darn IPPT. We’ll see him when he’s back by the weekend for the actual day wedding shoot of Sam and Shen Hwee.

 
Raymond has also won himself a First Place for the Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA) 2010 Q’1 contest for the Ceremony category. It’s our first time participating in the WPJA contest, and we’re very humbled by the achievement. We’ll share the winning image on a seperate entry with the rest of the couple’s wedding images. Lots of images which we personally like, and definitely lots of emotions happening during the wedding as well.

Another piece of good news to share, Raymond has been selected to represent Singapore for the ASEAN Young Photographers’ Award 2010 which will take place in Singapore in August this year. I’m sure he must be really excited to meet the other representing photographers from their respective countries. It’s a very good opportunity for him to interact and exchange ideas with photographers from abroad, and I hope it will change his perspective be it towards photography or even Life.

We’re super excited for the plans we have for next year as well, and we’ll share with all couples once we have the details finalised! The SAR has even made a pledge to make sacrifices for it just to see it come true! Emily and Colin has been really supportive, and we’d want couples to take advantage of the opportunity too! So do stay tuned for more updates ya?

That aside, couples have feedback to me that my SMS-es are like emails, and my emails are like story books! I’m so sorry to be this long winded again, blame it on the lack of writings and updates!

Seriously, I would also like to share with everyone another piece of news update. One of the couple whose wedding we shot this year has been featured on the front cover of the current issue (July 10 – December 10) of Blissful Brides magazine. Actually amongst the many brides we’ve photographed, Hsiao Hui is one of the few brides who has the most expressions!

I think the bowl of something must be pretty hard to swallow down the throat… =x

I love red umbrellas! If i have the time, I might update a post on all the red umbrella shots we have done. You’ll then see the different expressions from the brides, and it’s really interesting!

Personally I haven’t visited their place, but when I first saw this image I thought their wardrobe looked amazing! It looked like there’s an attached bathroom right beyond the wardrobe!

Tea ceremony! I never used to appreciate tea ceremonies, and I thought they were one of  the most boring part of a wedding, next to table to table shots and group photos. But recently somehow I had a change of perspective. I came to value human relationship more, and trying to appreciate the much elder folks. There’s a few images from Kangwei & Shuqin’s tea ceremony which I’ve listed as my favourites. Might seemed like some extremely normal shots, but nowadays I tend to look beyond the surface of the photos and realised that the ties or meaning behind it is worth much more than anything else in the world. I’ll update an entry of their actual day wedding (18 July 2010) once the images are ready.

Tricky tricky part! Unpin the wrong one and you might destroy the hairstyle! Maybe the sisters ought to collect bribery from the groom for completing this task for them.

I seriously wonder what’s the piece of paper they’re looking at. Love the expression and the whole feeling/tension!

Instead of the usual traditional Kwa or cheongsam, Hsiao Hui wore a gorgeous traditional peranakan outfit!

Intricate details, and it’s not easy when the shoes are handmade and every beads have to be sewn on individually. Takes alot of patience and skills!

One of the must haves for weddings! When else do you get a chance to hug the groom like this, take the opportunity to poke his waist and squeeze his butt!

When I first saw her, I thought she looked like Zhang Zi Yi! But of course Hsiao Hui is the super friendly, warm and outgoing version.

This picture reminds me of the day when my uncle got married. I was only a primary school kid’s age at that time, and my parents decided that my brother and I will sleep over at my uncle’s place together with my granny. I couldn’t sleep well, probably too excited and didn’t know what to expect. So I had my granny to tell us stories of her life, and probably what marriage is about. The next thing I know, my uncle’s alarm clock went off, he immediately dashed out of his room, washed up and got ready. He was sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo nervous, until he actually forgot how to put on socks!! Hahahahaha!! I can never forget the scene, and I’ve decided to use that against him if he ever teases me on my wedding day.

“Na, you hold it like this and you push it like that ok?”

“OKIE!”

“Grrrrrr… Vrrrrr…..”

“Nonono, hold it like this, and then push it like that…”

“Heh heh heh, seems to work now!”

“Woooooaaah, suddenly fly out like that!”

I must say Hsiao Hui’s Kwa is also one of the most beautiful one I’ve seen. The cutting fits her perfectly and look at the colours + details!

Muwahahahahaha! I’m a little in the cranky mood today, thus the weird captions for the images. Luckily I postponed my driving lesson. Else I would have given my instructor a heart attack since yesterday I almost made him choke on his sweet when I swirve the car to almost mount the pedestrian walkway at the slip road. HEHEHEHEHEHEHE! Rainy days make it easier to drift… oops! I drive golf buggy can mount kerb, drive car can swirve elsewhere, so please don’t invite me to a go-kart race cos I will confirm flip and toss the car in mid air and do the mid air car explosion stunt. I don’t mind Daytona invites though.
