Hello everyone! Few months back Raymond and I actually went over to Taiwan with one of our couples Guan Lim & Jeslin, whose wedding we shot in October 2008. Time really flies, but even until today, I can still clearly remember the time when we first met up with them, all the emails exchanged, and how we became pretty good friends today. The couple left a deep impression I guess partly because Guan Lim was the only one who sent/reply emails in handwritten text, and signed off with a written CHINESE signature! I thought it was really interesting. Heh heh heh heh~

For a snippet of their Actual Day wedding (morning highlights), click http://www.raymondphang.com/blog/2008/snippets-from-guan-lim-jeslins-actual-day

Their gatecrashing games was also one of the most memorable where Guan Lim had to lick off whipped cream from one of the brother’s toes. Muwahahahahaha!! Totally gross, but I like the idea! So I included it in my list of gatecrashing ideas entry. To the dearest evil kind hearted and innocent sisters or brides to be who are desperately seeking help and cracking their heads off thinking of games to play for Gatecrashing, click http://www.raymondphang.com/blog/2010/gatecrashing-ideas-inspiration-tips-tricks

Hehehehehehe. ;p

.

.
Okie back to the Taiwan trip, it’s my first time in Taiwan, and Guan + Jes were kind enough to bring us around! They were so pro and familiar with the streets and lanes and alleys, so whatever you do, just follow closely behind them you’ll be on the right track! We went to soooo many places from Taipei （台北） to Tai Chung （台中）to most of the major night markets such as shi lin ye shi （士林夜市），shi da ye shi（師大夜市），rao he ye shi（饒河夜市）, the famous shopping belt (wu fen pu/五分铺)， 西门町 and IT Geek’s paradise guang hua shang chang (光华商场), my most favourite place jiu fen (九份)!!

Fuwah! I like jiu fen precisely because it is an old town. I tend to like things associated with old… but maybe not in few years down the road when I officially gain the title of Auntie-ship. :p

Some pictures taken with my dummy camera, some with Raymond’s camera. But because he had no time to look through and do the editing, I had to do everything this time round, so enjoy the pictures!

The meal served… I finished the fruit, the bun and brownie cake!

Poor Raymond didn’t manage to eat anything because he was more interested in sleeping. He’s actually been working on a batch of editing, and finally completed about 1-2 hours before our flight time! So end up we had to once again, rush and drive a little faster than usual to reach the airport in time.

So nice of them to put a little sticker right infront of Raymond’s seat so that when he wakes up he’ll see this.

Landed, cleared customs, took a Taxi and since we are all youths, we checked in to YMCA Taipei! MUWAHAHAHAHAHA!!

The room was pretty big, with a bathroom in the living room, a huge balcony, 2 rooms, and 1 ensuite bathroom as well!

After we dumped all our bags and stuffs, we went trottering around the city.

First stop, one of the must visit stall for the couple whenever they visit Taipei!

This stall sells a huge variety of food poked through little skewers. You’ll have to pick the ones you like and place them in the red basket, the chef will then prepare them for you, by boiling them in a special pot of gravy sauce.

While the boys were busy queuing outside for the food, I snapped a picture of my bargain buy! A dual slot adapter for my micro SD adapter, and also 2 pieces of Sandisk 16gb micro SD card! I cannot remember the price, but it was a good buy so we grabbed them! It’s supposed to be placed in my PSP, but my PSP is currently rotting in one deep dark depressing corner… no time to play!

Here comes the foodie!! It’s actually two super huge plates of food consisting of yummy noodles, fishcake, mushrooms, egg, cabbages, chilli sauce, beancurd skins, luncheon meat, and the weird weird black looking thing which they conspired to cheat me into eating! We’ll talk about the conspiracy later, but more on the food now. Wah this plate of messy looking thing is actually power packed with lots of flavour!! Sooooo rich in flavour, the gravy is not oily and not sticky, the cabbage is soooooooooo sweet that it’ll make you suspect whether they’ve actually planted the cabbage in a plot of Sugar Land! The noodle looks like any ordinary instant noodle, but with the sauce, it really tastes heavenly! *drools*

This black piece of thing, is actually PIG’S BLOOD!!! They bluff me and say it’s glutinous rice… I didn’t quite like the texture, but ate it anyway… have to give face mah!!!

The two culprits!!!

Finished dinner, we went for walk walk, snacking along the way with fruits and ice cream!

The little tiny shops along the alley sells pretty unique clothings and accesories for ladies! We went into this shop while the guys were Q-ing for icecream/yogurt, there were tons and tons of beautiful hairbands, keychains etc! I saw a few that I like, but they were pretty pricey, so I see only. Then I saw another keychain which I super duper love! A wooden keychain with a picture of this cute little cartoon character. Didn’t get it in the end too cos of the price. Well I guess maybe because it’s a pretty popular spot with non stop crowd and very high flow of human traffic, so the rental must be pretty expensive too.

Next we went to a litte pub to chill out! It’s really little… very crampy at the upper level, the steps were super duper steep too!

Not forgetting the place was a little warm, even Jeslin had to bun up her hair~

We ordered some beer and while waiting, Guan was happily snapping away.

Reviewing the images~

One of the beer we ordered was super horrendous, smells like the chinese medicinal ointment, and tasted like cough syrup.I cannot remember what flavour the beer was, but in any case, they left the entire bottle pretty much untouched after that one fateful sip.

At ximending!! A place for the hip youngsters!

Outside the toilet within the compound of MacDonald’s.

One of the stalls selling cheap clothings! It’s really depressing shopping in Taipei if your figure is a little bit big. Raymond gave up finding shoes because he couldnt even fit into the biggest available size they have in Taipei. When he was browsing through some jeans, the shopkeeper came over and told us don’t bother to try because no matter how Raymond try to squeeze, he will never fit into the jeans. SO UPSET AND DEMORALISING!!!

But think of the bright side, at the very least the shopkeepers are honest! They won’t lie to you and tell you things like “Go ahead and buy it! This looks good on you, confirm can fit, don’t need to try!”

Raising my eyebrows~

SO VULGAR!

It’s actually part of the banner hanging across the shop. Hahahaha!! It’s an exaggerated and vulgar way of saying it’s damn good to eat.

Hehehehehe… We also took some shots of Guan in various poses, but cannot share here! :p

In the middle of the street, no cars! We strolled and shopped all the way till late night!

I actually had diahrrea the entire night and couldn’t sleep well. Up till next morning, stomach still wasn’t feeling too well, so I had to stay in the room while they went down for brekkies first. So Jes made me this super bitter yucky chinese drink with damn potent powder supposed to stop diahrrea. I drank it all up and felt a little better, so we went out altogether. I wondered how come the air was so dusty and everything looked pretty blurry to us. End up my parents texted me that there’s news of Sand/Dust storm reported in Taipei.

It’s a super messy place for first timer, and confirm you’ll miss out on one of the lanes, but Guan and Jes was so experienced!

Trying out more food!

Trying out steaks!

Wooooo, yum yum!!

The snacks they have are all sooooo delicious!! My favourite has to be the giant crispy chicken cutlet/chop, and also the hu jiao bing （胡椒饼）! Wah can never forget the smell and aroma… the ka-zi ka-zi sound when you bite into the pipping hot piece of crispy chicken. Sooooo crispy and the marination of spices makes everything tastes nice! The meat is not very tough, and definitely not very dry! Oh my hu jiao bing… Jes and I had to queue for quite some time to purchase 5 of the buns… crispy on the outside, soft and sooooooo chewy on the inside! I’m fascinated with the texture of the dough! How can something taste so Q!! The fillings inside the bun was pretty generous too, and you might want to be careful when you take a bite, because the soup/gravy/oil will pe-zi out unexpectedly!

Which reminds me that it was also my first time trying chou dou fu (臭豆腐) too!!! Raymond forced me to take a bite and I was extremely reluctant to because the smell was too pungeant I could puke instantly if I take another whiff!! End up that one single bite I took confirmed my dislike for the smelly beancurd. Super duper smelly and I cannot understand why people like to eat something that is so smelly!!! What’s worse is the taste will linger in your mouth like forever even after you’ve brushed your teeth, scraped your tongue and also the insides of your cheek for the Nth time!! Horrible horrible!!

Raymond loves the shooting games. He had to use the air gun to hit all the ballons on the spinning wheel to win a prize.

Next up, Guan’s turn. He had to shoot the plastic holder and make sure it tears and drop onto the net in order to win the amount of money taped to the plastic holder. Bullets were cork pellet, not easy to aim and shoot!!

Then I bought a Harajuku Lovers perfume! I bought one in Aussie few years back and both the one in Aussie + Taipei is cheaper than Singapore! Also bought a few cans of giant beer!! Cannot remember how many litre was this!! One person cannot even finish, and we bought a can back for Raymond’s dad.

Reach back at the hotel, my stomach aches again. So I tried to negotiate business with the toilet bowl. Who knows this time it’s CONSTIPATION… Jes’ medicine was super duper potent indeed!!! O_O”

Took a first class train to Tai Chung! The train station and system was a little messy with a few different typs of train available.

But I was impressed with the first class cabin! The leg room is soooooooooooooo freaking spacious, seats were all clean and comfortable, there’s a train cabin master assigned to the first class cabin, free flow of peanuts/drinks. You can even bring your own food/drinks on board, and you won’t get a fine! Another amazing thing, you can actually turn the seats around to face the people behind you. Of course you do that only when you have your friends/family sitting behind, else it might be very awkward for the stranger having to face you for the whole journey.

The lu rou fan (卤肉饭) is something you must try in Taiwan! They usually come in a small tiny bowl, with a scoop of brown gravy and fatty meat on top. Very, very sinful, but very, very yummy!! Another rice you must try would be the you fan （油饭）. It literally means oily rice from a direct chinese translation. I love it like crazy. Although the name says it’s oily rice, it’s actually not oily at all! It doesnt have ingredients like prawns or carrots or ikan bilis insde, it’s just a normal looking plain brown colored rice. Nothing that will catch your eyes. But once you try it….. WAH!! You wonder how come something that looks so plain can taste sooooo nice!! I really wonder how they cook all the dishes… and I wonder why we cannot find such flavours locally in Singapore. I am also very amazed by the fact that so much sinful food, so much eatings to do, and the people still managed to stay so slim! Everyone of them!! *Jealous*

A nice group photo of us at this quaint little tea house. Very nice and serene atmosphere, and you’ll really feel like composing some chinese poems and sipping chinese tea at the same time. Too bad I had a glass of fruit juice, cos the grumpy me just felt like having some juices. :p

Wah i super duper love this photo if not for the cropped off lantern. I could have cloned it off, but it’ll look too empty there for my liking, so I left it as it is!

We went into this little shop call Lavender Cottage or something, and they sell very cute stuffs, all plants and Lavender related! Jes and I ended up spending a lot of time in that shop, buying quite a number of stuffs. Because I’m a person who likes music, and I’m also attracted to all things with music (probably explained why I picked the Music Harajuku Lovers in the first place), so when I saw they had acrylic photo frames where you can pull the tab and music will go off, I fell in loveeeeeee… What’s also special is that they music pieces are all unique and a few are composed by their in house pianist/composer! NICE!!

They also had a choo choo train set, nice lavender pillows for babies, and lots of other stuffs! I think I’ll go back there again if I ever visit Jiu fen the next time.

A little overblown, but I like it anyway. Looks good enough to eat. Hahaha!

Okie dokie, that’s all for a personal entry! I’ll probably try to update a mix of work and personal related stuff from time to time so that you guys can have a better idea on who we are outside Photography as well. Hehehe. Good night everybody!!

I was looking through some of the past and recent wedding images taken by Raymond, and I thought it’ll be interesting to do an entry on the different gatecrashing games played by the brothers and sisters from various weddings! I left out the common leg hair waxing and bikini stuffs, and here’s a short list of games to consider! Enjoy!

The Simple Games

(From Paul & Evelyn’s actual day wedding on 24 October 2009)

Set a dress code, get all brothers to follow strictly. Appear for the gatecrashing with a happy spirit, do whatever you’re told to do by the lovely sisters and you’ll enjoy the happy day! Push ups are pretty common, but push ups are beneficial to your health, so why not? Make the brothers do 100 within 60 seconds! Perhaps with a bowl of eggs placed right below their tummy so that during the last few seconds when they cannot tahan anymore or cos they’re rushing to complete within time, they might land and crash on the eggs, or roll over to the side and bang into the brother next to them, and all of them fall like dominos. Muwahahahaha! You can replace eggs for ice, or water or flour, or anything you desire! (:

BYO- Bring Your Own

(From Desmond & Jolene’s actual day wedding on 25 October 2009)

I think the brothers are smart enough to make it a Two Way Bargaining session. The brothers came prepared, brought their own suitcase of treasure with ang pows. No idea what’s the least and maximum amount in the ang pow, but the sister had to make a choice. Interestingggg…

Scary Foodies

(From Edwin & Eunice’s actual day wedding on 21 November 2009)

Lemons are sourrrrr! How will lemon taste if you coat it with an extra layer of Citric Acid??? Muwahahahaha!! Maybe coat the lemon with citric acid, then rub it on any body part of one of the selected brother….. and…. the groom…. shall…. LICK IT CLEAN! Kekeke.

(From Guan Lim & Jeslin’s actual day wedding on 4 October 2008)

Speaking of Licking, here’s one of our all time favourite gatecrashing game. Guan Lim being the smart aleck, answered TOES to the sisters’ question of “Which part of Jeslin’s body is his favourite.” Tsk tsk tsk, and thus he had to lick off the whipped cream on the brother’s toes. Not all sisters are evil to think of tricky tricky questions to land you in trouble you know. Sometimes they meant well, no harm! :p

(From Andrew & Clarice’s actual day wedding on 11 October 2008)

However there’s always the exception – the Evil sisters. They’ll mix and match the weirdest stuffs on earth like smelly rotten beancurd with perhaps wasabi or bananas or other gooey stuffs altogether. Eeeeew! But weird food stuffs are generally discouraged for fear that the groom and his merrymen will puke and shit in their pants. Don’t let this moment of “folly” spoil the whole day ya?

(From Hiro & Serena’s actual day wedding on 7 December 2008)

Playing on the groom’s fear might be good. Chilli padi or single food stuff are alright, just don’t mix, and don’t use food/drinks that you obviously know the poor groom has an allergy to.

(From Kuan Wee & Pei Yu’s actual day wedding on 31 December 2008)

And for the greedy merrymen, sometimes the prettiest thing might look good, but not necessary taste good.
This evil plate of dish made Kuan Wee spat from the second level to the first, and the poor dog dog sprinted to lick it all up. =_=”

Sexy Sexy – The Role Reversal Game

(From John & Ei-leen’s actual day wedding on 7 September 2008)

The evil sisters somehow enjoy seeing guys dress themselves up as women! So it’s inevitable that the merrymen will have to go through this.

(From Andrew & Clarice’s actual day wedding on 11 October 2008)

Other ways of dressing up the guy. No need for bikini cos bikini looks good only on skin and not clothes! Unless the merrymen strips…. now that’s another question altogether…

(From Hiro & Serena’s actual day wedding on 7 December 2008)

Make them danceeeeee!

(From Jonald & Yutong’s actual day wedding on 7 November 2009)

Such an intimate physical body contact! I think the ladies never fails to go Gaga when they see things like this! Hahahaha! This is Entertainment! :p

(From Jonald & Yutong’s actual day wedding on 7 November 2009)

How about some kissy kissy? Kekeke! Next time shall make them do away with the “safety barrier”!!

(From Jonald & Yutong’s actual day wedding on 7 November 2009)

Next, the brother had to chew off this buns on the groom’s chest cos inside the buns there’s a secret note and they have to follow the instructions written on it to proceed on to the next stage.

(From Jerry & Michelle’s actual day wedding on 6 October 2009)

This is pretty “man”, but pretty R(A) too!! *covers eye*

(From Richard & Wendy’s actual day wedding on 9 May 2009)

What a cute “bra” Richard is holding on close to his chest! He had to sing and dance while wearing this, but being cheeky, Richard even placed it on his head to make it look like… I don’t know, a genetically modified Mickey Mouse? Muwahahahaha!

The Innocent Games

(From Teck Yong & Wanling’s actual day wedding on 20 September 2009)

Create something out of the things the groom really detest, and find ways to make it stay with the groom throughout the entire gate crashing! In this case, the groom really hates Mushroom, so the clever sisters made a super cute mushroom earing and headband for the groom to wear! Real mushrooms! Innocent enough, right?

(From Morrison & Rachel’s actual day wedding on 2 August 2009)

This can be an innocent game, but can be quite a torture as well. You know… with age…. your bones have all stiffened up… so… you can’t really go…. that… L….O…..W…..

(From Koh & Ting Yin’s actual day wedding on 29 May 2009)

An innocent game too! Yoga is fun, yoga is healthy! Has anyone seen Yoda doing Yoga? I think it’ll be funny! Get the brothers to dress up as Yoda and do the Yoga!!

Diapers? Disposable undies? *scratch head* It’s so innocent, kids can join in and play too!

Usually the sisters will draw the initials of the bride onto the diapers/undies and make them wear it on their butt, perform a cute sexy little dance and that’s all. Easy and simple!

When all things fail, leave it to the elderly!!

Ah-Ma says: “Eh, kui meng ah! buay sai sng liao, xi gan gao liao!” Which literally means, open the door, stop playing, time’s up!! You know how particular the elderly folks are about the auspicious timing? Always recruit a granny in your band of brothers!

Make sure they’re all dressed in black to appear scaaaaary! And also please try to include at least ONE charismatic brother. Once you have that in your checklist, half the battle is won. :p

(From Terence & Jann’s actual day wedding on 18 October 2009)

This time round, the poor photographer was roped in to help the sisters with the preparation. They placed lip gloss on Raymond’s lips and he had to put his sexy lipstick mark on the piece of paper together with the bride and other sister’s lipstick marks. But guess which one did the groom picked? Raymond’s!!! Hahahahaha!

The brother actually tried to bully the poor boy and make him eat the banana on his behalf. Tsk tsk tsk. Luckily boy boy was smart enough not to eat! Attempt at converting – FAIL! :p

Poor Kok Meng had to do the push up all by himself!! Noticed that all the brothers did nothing but stood and watch at a side?? Luckily the groom was super duper fit enough to finish everything by himself!! Cassie has gotten herself a fit fit groom! Booboo to the nuanua brothers, and see what the groom has to say in the above image! :p

Aww so sweet

(From Ho Wei & Eileen’s actual day wedding on 6 June 2009)

Usually the sisters will help the bride prepare a pretty contract like this one, where the groom puts his signature and agree to all the terms and conditions stated on the contract. Conditions such as giving all the monthly salary and bonuses to the wife, promise not to be angry with each other at the end of the day if they ever quarrel, do housework blablala… which I think is pretty bogus! Cos after the couple put both their signature on the piece of paper call the marriage certificate, the terms and conditions stated on this contract automatically becomes invalid. So in order to prevernt such things from happening, engage a lawyer and have a reeeeal one made! :p

Have you seen THIS?? Such a scary piece of…. CHOCOLATE!! It’s actually the leftover chocolate from the bride’s hen party the night before. This “creature” was not supposed to be shown and used and displayed to the world, until Yutong’s mummy suddenly thought of it and suggested that they make full use of this for the gate crashing!

.

Okie dokie, end of my sharing! Just a very few tips to share, so hope it’s at least a little bit useful!

I was thinking of updating an entry to conclude Year 2009 for Raymond and I, but come to think of it, 365 days are all filled with work and more work. The only time we get to go dating is when we meet up with couples-turned-friends for dinner or movies!

Actually I feel really blessed to have known them, especially couples like Guan Lim & Jeslin, Jack & Grace, Michelle & Sam, Desmond & Jolene, Jonald & Yutong, Andrew & Clarice, Richard & Wendy, Eddie & Aileen, Max & Mui Hui, Kok Meng & Cassie, Edwin & Eunice and a whoooooooooooooooooooolesome lotssssssssssssssssss moreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!! In fact we love them all for inviting us to be part of the special team for their biggest day, and also very appreciative that they engaged us because they genuinely love our works and not because we’re “spares”. Much more than that, we’re really really happy that we get to take the relationship further from being just clients, to friends and very good friends! So looking forward to Year 2010, and hopefully meet more interesting characters!!

Year 2009 was pretty fruitful with the achievements Raymond bagged from the [AG]WPJA – Artistic Guild of the Wedding Photojournalist Association, the MPA – Masters Photographer Association, establishment of the Wedding Photographers Guild, collaboration with the preservation of monument board and CDL in producing the book – Resonance Songs of our Forefathers, addition of Susulini the DI artist to our family, and lots lots more! Learnt a lot of things, widened our horizons a bit with the travellings and attending the Schembri workshops in Sydney, plucking enough courage to drive overnight from Sydney to Gold Coast within a day etc!

Come to think of it, even though Year 2009 has been 365 days of work for us, it’s actually still pretty colourful!

Now for my Year 2010 resolution: Stop work at 12 midnight, start work at 7am, find one activity to do together with Raymond (we’re pretty lifeless cos of work!), spend more time with family & friends, eat more fruits! That’s all for now! Maybe i’ll get susulini and Raymond to share some day!

Okie now, here’s some images from my personal snap snaps collection. Hehe.

I actually fed the machine with 2 dollars and out came this love struck looking froggie… I got this because Raymond was mad at me for some reason which I cannot remember. So next morning I went over to his place, outlined the shape of my hands and fingers, cut and folded them in such a way that the middle finger is pointing out, stuck it to the body of the frog and pinned the whole thing to his mirror!

I find it funny cos the whole idea of it is funny to me, and at the same time it gets to express my anger and frustration too… Oh well, things I do to “spice up” our relationship. :p

Bought this during our furniture hunting at IKEA few months back. Raymond likes it a lot.

Sometimes he’s really sweet cos he actually bothers to take time off work and divert his attention to me by doing little things like sewing my buttons back for me when it dropped off.

Interesting things we spotted together..

Having late night supper… it’s actually lunch + dinner combined in the middle of the night after 12 midnight!

Sharing a biiiiig mug of hot chocolate..

Yesterday I spent half the day accompanying my friend Shahidah. I call her Shark He Duck, or Duck for short.

I know I have a lot of emails to reply, but Duck is having some personal problems and she needed someone to talk to…

Raymond and I puts relationship above everything else, so instead of sitting down replying emails while she talk and share her problems, I felt that someone who needs a listening ear deserves all the attention…

Tried to cheer her up so I suggested snapping pictures!

Glad it made her smile…

SUCH AN OBSCENE PICTURE!

Duck and I knew each other since 1997, and she’s like one of my best friend… such a coincidence we’re both wearing checkered top!

Then I suggested playing with faces!

A picture of the naked face…

A picture of the painted face!

Duck has a big eyering, floral murals, bird (which I cannot tell!), stitched up wound, sun, and a Mr Pringles look alike face.

I had two uneven eyebrows, some wrinkles on top, double eyelid, arrow love, whiskers, pink nose, mustache, moles and eyebags.

This image is damn cool! Looked like I had fake teeth!!

That’s duck’s frontal view!

.

.

.

.

And here’s two images to share from our piles of backlogs of wedding images!!

Taken on 3 November 2009 for Scott & Wee-Li for their outdoor pre-wedding. Susulini came with us on that day and assisted. Very happy that the images turned out to be pretty nice! Sweet and cheery, bright and pretty!!

Taken on 10 November 2009 for Qi Wei & Hsiao Hui’s outdoor pre-wedding. Susulini joined us too, and we had a yummy dinner of Botak Jones right after! Love this series as well, and we really think Hsiao Hui looks like Zhang Zi Yi from certain angles!

We have a whole lot of other backlogs to share, some of which are already completed long ago. Do keep a lookout for more updates ya? Back to emails! Merry Christmas to all!!

Raymond and I were pretty excited yesterday because we sneaked off to Malaysia with Guan Lim & Jeslin for makan! Muwahahaha! When Jeslin SMS-ed me that they’ll be arriving to pick us up in 15 minutes’ time, my heart was racing real fast, and it felt like I was going to meet my husband who has just returned from overseas after 5 years of seperation! Hahaha! Yea! It’s that kind of excitement!

We double checked our pockets before rushing out to meet them. Passport, wallet, IC, phone, dummy camera. That’s the beloved couple! Hehehe. I secretly snapped a picture of them while waiting for the lift.

Along the way, I saw a lot of giantic trucks like these. I snapped, while Raymond kept himself busy by filling in the “White Card”. He took quite some time to fill in, and before we knew it, we’ve reached the Customs!

Ta-dah!! Customs!

I think this is pretty cool! I find their body language somewhat amusing to me. It’s like they’re very stiff, and.. I don’t know how to explain. =\

And that’s us fooling around behind!

We dressed down, and I wore like some rowdy kid from don’t know which dustbin. =_=”

Fuwah! Guan Lim has been a really good driver! He managed to get us around Malaysia, and also got us back safely in one piece! =D
The driving instructor must have given him full marks for his driving test. Hahaha!

That’s Jeslin, the advocator of SK-II, and Soo Kee Brilliant Rose bling bling.

We went to some shopping malls to get stuffs for Jeslin, while Raymond and I got nothing. =_=”. Then Guan Lim led the way and brought us to this ulu place!

FOR MAKAN!

Quickly parked the car, and somewhere near the entrance, we can see Monkeys in the cage. Small monkey looking at me, Big monkey being snobbish.

I find the place pretty nice! And along the roads, I saw a couple of run down buildings which I thought was really nice. Unfortunately I didn’t manage to snap, because either I was too slow or too lazy to start up the dummy camera. Hehe.

Kelong! It’s my first time setting foot on a Kelong! You guys didn’t know right. Hahaha! So I was pretty excited, I snapped and I snapped!

Fresh seafood!

Pretty sky with interesting Light Bulbs.

I don’t know what is this, but it looked like some marine creature with a shell. =\

Lots of other shell creatures, which I don’t eat. Hehehe. Raymond eats them like crazy though.

Many many boats like this around.

I wonder whether is it safe for them to live at the Kelong. =\

The lady seemed to give me a feeling that she’s feeling unhappy and she longs to leave the place. =\

More boats.

The lady who took our Order. Oh, by the way they don’t serve 100 Plus, so if you want to drink 100 Plus, please bring your own next time.

Stilts? I was worried that some wood planks might break & we’ll all drop into the sea. But luckily we did not, and that only means we’re still pretty light weight. Hahaha! Must eat more!

I don’t know what’s the name fo this, but I find it interesting, yet disgusting at the same time. It grows itself onto anywhere actually…

Like this! Eeeeew!

I like the nettings.

And the shape, although it’s nothing special… =_=”

I like the fan, and the ceiling! I always like to take pictures of such ceiling. =D
But it’s a little scary at the Kelong, because the whole place was floating on sea and moving up and down, left and right, and then you can hear the creaking sound coming from the top. Quite scary, because I keep having the feeling that the entire ceiling will drop and hit us.

Sun setting soon.

Urgh!! Should have composed the picture properly! Now there’s a black dot thingy on the right. =(

Raymond looks like he has some China doll hairstyle here cos of the Shadow casted on his head. Hahaha~

Pretty like this too, but as usual, there’s flaws.

Feasting time! We had 2 crabs – 1 salted egg & 1 steamed, 1 super big fish, 2 prawns – 1 drunkard prawns & 1 cereal prawns, kang kong, rice, tiger beer, coconut drink, & 2 coke! Total added up to around RM300+.

The king kong kang kong. Spicy!! I only had a tiny little stem to test the spiciness. I guess Guan Lim was more pro than me since he can tahan this evil Spicy king kong the Kang Kong dish. I supposed it must be a heaven for Raymond since he’s a fan of chilli, curry, and spicy stuffs.

Peanuts! Why we didn’t feed the monkey with peanuts?

Chinese parsley! Focus should be on the crab instead what! *Faints*! This is the salted egg crabbie. Nice nice nice!! Initially I was a little skeptical, cos I don’t eat salted eggs. But when I pinched a green bean size of the meat and placed it inside my mouth, it totally changed my perception of Salted egg crabbie! Tasted quite similar to the Creamy Crab Raymond and I had in Singapore. Cool ah! The other Steamed crabbie was equally good! Both the meat are fresh and tender, unlike the crabs I had the other time with a Client which made me felt as though I was eating the Crab’s World Champion Body Builder! The meat was soooo hard that I had to spend a lot of time digging and eating it.

Personally I’m not really a fish eating expert, so any fish with a lot of bones would tend to turn me off. Cos when I was young, I had a lot of bad experiences with eating fish. I got choked many, many times, and it’s really not a good feeling at all. Super unbearable, you cannot swallow it down, neither can you cough it out. It’s really stuck somewhere inside, and I remember I kept crying whenever that happened. I started to totally avoid eating fish. My mum would force me to eat fish by painstakingly tearing up the meat to make sure there’s no bones inside, but I’d secretly throw them away when she’s not looking. So evil right? Sometimes when she fry the tiny little kuning fish, the gravy would temp me to try the fish. I’d ask her to pick the bones for me before I eat. But whenever I discovered 1 single bone be it thin or thick, long or short, I’d freak out and scoop the meat aside. Now that I’ve grown up, I tried eating fish. With my bare hands, I’ll pinch and press and squeeze and knead and poke the meat to make sure there’s absolutely no bone at all, before I put it inside my mouth and chew it very slowly. At least I’m eating fish now!

Oops, digress again! Oh well… the fish we had was acceptable, with some bones. Juicy and tender, but I prefer the one we had at Changi Teochew Kitchen the other time. Wah, super miss the cai bo & the gravy of the fish! Yum yum!!

Cereal Prawn. The rest of the dishes didn’t snap because I was too hungry already! Must pacify my stomach first. Hehe. The cereal prawn was not too bad, except I’d wish that the cereals had more flavour. Otherwise everything else was good! And they’re really generous with the amount of cereals they throw in with the prawn, unlike some places in Singapore whereby the Cereals seemed like Gold Flakes – very expensive so can only give you a teaspoon serving of it. If you request for more cereals, they’ll give you another teaspoon serving. =_=”
The drunkard prawns was really good too! The size of the prawns are actually not very small you know. But like all dishes, it’s best if you can eat them while they’re piping hot, especially the soup. Maybe next time we can bring Guan Lim & Jeslin to a place where we can have nice Drunkard Prawns + Lobster Soup + Creamy Crab + Oyster and all the yummy seafood!! Muwahahaha!

Agar Agar, & fruits! I picked the colorful one. =p

Fruits to explode our stomach, and to feed the monkeys (if you cannot finish the fruits).

Our stomach exploded when we ate the fruits, so we decided to share some of the fruits with the Monkeys. Big monkey was really snobbish, he took the satay stick to bite, and threw away the fruits!! Small monkey was clever and good, he picked up the fruits on the ground and ate, while trying to be careful not to incur Big monkey’s wrath.

One of my favourite shot of the day! Hehehe. I snapped this while I was squatting down at the edge, observing the mouldy algae-ish things growing onto the sides.

No group photo, because everyone was too full to remember anything about group photo after the meal!! Oh no, Raymond and I are seriously hungry now. It’s currently 2.50am. He’s rushing to clear the backlogs, and I’m blogging here with tons of other miscellaneous stuffs to do. Glad he’s clearing the backlog pretty well, and I can’t wait to share more wedding pics soon!

Aussie trip… I wonder when can I finish the update. 1 more hour to MacDonald’s Breakfast timing. YAY!

*Grits teeth and endure the hunger pangs*

Merry Christmas! From Guan Lim & Jeslin!!

(all images from my dummy camera)

We met up for dinner when Raymond returned from China a couple of days ago. They brought us to Changi Teochew Kitchen for a good feast, and I was really satisfied with the meal! The fish we ordered was so huge and definitely very meaty! The meat was sooo soft and tender that it feels like toufu, very juicy, and full of flavour! It literally melts in the mouth. Yum yum! Together with the gravy that comes with the dish, plus the “cai bo” (hokkien term), the fish was an ultimate pleasure and makes our tongue palate very, very happy! I cannot believe “cai bo” can taste so yummy! Not the wet wet type that we use to eat with our “chwee kuey”. This one is dry, and I think possibly they fry it first. Ahhh.. YUMMY!!

We also ordered some intestines dishes, which i totally don’t eat, but according to Raymond the garbage eater, they tasted reeeeally nice, especially when you dip it in their special chilli sauce. Jeslin was describing how nice the chilli sauce was, sour and sweet and spicy kind of thingy. I was a little tempted, and so I decided to dip my chopstick into Raymond’s chilli sauce to test. SPICY SUPER!! Next time I better be good and not try the spicy stuffs since I don’t take spicy stuffs. Finally I found someone same as me, doesnt take spicy food!

We had chicken, we had those “flower” crabs (Qi?), we also had Butter/Creamy Crab. The Qi was really yummy too!! It’s the first time I ate such a small crab, so I didn’t know the proper way to eat it. Guan Lim did a demo, and Raymond followed. So agar-ly I tried on my own, and viola! I managed to dig out the meat and feast! Despite being very small in size, the meat was so full and fleshy too! I like the idea where they sprinkle the Qi with salt and then just plain BBQ-ing it. So simple, yet so delicious! I guess it also has got to do with them using only the freshest crabs for cooking.

The Butter/Creamy crab was a little out of my expectation. For all the butter/creamy crab that Raymond and I have eaten so far, this one is really different. Hmm… I guess I was expecting a whole lot more of the gravy, but this one has a little bit of gravy only. The cooking method also different I guess. But nonetheless, it’s not too bad! The claw was especially big with tons of meat inside! Maybe next time we shall bring them elsewhere with creamy crab to feast. The type where we usually eat – with a lot of gravy, where you can dip the fried mantou and munch. Very nice!

It is only now that I realised we didn’t order any vegetables! HAHAHA!! I think they are not the veggie people, cos they were the ones doing the food ordering. :p

Guan Lim had a loooot to drink, and we get to meet a lot of new people that day. Raymond also ended up drinking beer (eeeks!), and some Martell mixed with Coconut water. Usually he doesn’t drink alcohol, but I supposed drinking is like one of the universal tools for establishing networks and friendships? Hmm… Personally I don’t like coconut, just like how our little doggie eats all kinds of fruits except for banana. Can’t pinpoint a reason why, but sometimes there’s no reason at all to things. Haha. Raymond on the other hand loves the Martell with Coconut water.

We stayed at the place for quite sometime, while I kept making Raymond bloat himself up with lots of plain water and visits to the toilet to release the water. Then Guan Lim and Jeslin invited us to their cosy crib which was nearby for a visit! WAH! They have like the nicest view, the highest floor, and the ceiling is very high too!

We stayed there till around 1am in the morning, and the next day they’ve got to work. So paiseh to hold back their time for so long. But Raymond and I had a lot of fun, and really enjoyed ourselves! We were amazed at the wonders of the PS3. Guan Lim really opened our eyes when he showed us how the PS3 is able to view photos, you can even see the EXIF data, zoom in and out, and the whole interface is so cool! Or maybe we’re really mountain turtle, cos we don’t have time for games.

Oh well… looked through what they took for their Japan trip, and Japan sounds really fun! Guan Lim kept mentioning the Hokkaido word, showing us the pictures of the Kobe beef, Tuna belly and all other foodstuff, Jeslin was even saying how nice the beansprout tasted!! My goodness! They’re really good at tempting people. So Raymond and I decided to try putting aside some savings and see whether we can make it for the Hokkaido trip next year with them or not. Hehe.

What’s inside??

COOKIES!!! Life saving cookies!! We were hungry like mad when we got home, and luckily we have the cookies to satisfy our angry stomach. By the way, they’re very nice too! We finished the Raspberry one already. Can’t wait to try the Cranberry one!

Jeslin also gave us a doll she got in Japan. This doll has no eyes. So we’re supposed to like make a wish and then draw one eye, and when our wish really comes true, we’re supposed to draw the other eye. I was wondering what wish to make, and what will happen to the doll when both the eyes are drawn. Can I like fix a pair of ears for it and make another wish? Or put on a wig and stuffs… Maybe a genie will appear? Hmm… Then I was wondering, what will happen if I draw the eye one big one small, or one side got eyelashes, one side don’t have. That kind of thing you know… Hahahahaha! No wonder my friends always say I’m weird.

Ah, it’s actually Chilli Red in color. Maybe I shall call it “Ah Qi wawa”. Qi as in the chinese pronounciation for seven, wawa means doll in Chinese. Jeslin gave us a whole lot of other stuffs too! I shall keep the SKII masks till my wedding day then use. HAHAHAHA!! =_=”

Wow I’m so long winded today. Maybe cos I’m excited to see the pictures Raymond is going to take for Angela & Alvin’s wedding this Saturday, followed by Serena & Hiro’s on Sunday. And even more excited cos Raymond will be using his spanking new Canon 5D MKII for the wedding shoot! I saw how fantastic the ISO can go up to. Even my ISO 400 is like the ISO 12,800 of 5D Mk2! It’s like… the ISO 25,600 is my ISO 800. Such a far far cry! *FAINTS*!! So it’s time to get me a dummy camera too! Muwahahaha.

Oh if anyone is hungry, lives at the eastern side of Singapore, and doesn’t mind trying Teochew cuisine, the address is Blk 5, Changi Village Road, (S) 500005. They even have Valet parking service! Very convenient since that area is always packed with cars. But do remember to call 65465482 and make reservations on weekend or dinner time. Else be prepared to queue for tables.

I’m hungry now already! Bubbye!

The other day, Raymond and I had a lot of fun catching up with Guan Lim & Jeslin! That was a few days before their Actual Day wedding. Hehe. Guan Lim was “looking sharp” (as how Raymond put it)! Again, we learnt more about coffee this time, and maybe one day I should really try Guan Lim’s method of appreciating coffee. Don’t waste the flavor ya?

If my memory serves me well, these are the steps to follow. First we observe the color of the coffee under the daylight. It should be in a nice shade of black, and hopefully we are able to see through to the bottom of the teaspoon. Next, we take a sniff at the coffee, and it’ll be wonderful if we can smell the full aroma of the coffee.. you know, how coffee is supposed to smell like?

Once we form a perception of the coffee in mind, then we take a little sip of the coffee. I don’t really know a lot about coffee since I rarely drink them (the traditional brewed coffee, not the iced latte type). But some coffee when brewed, smells super nice! But when I drink it, somehow I’ll get disappointed. I’d wish if only the flavor was richer. Maybe because I didn’t drink it the proper way.

After taking a sip, we let it run around the palate a little while. The tip of the tongue taste the sweetness, the back taste the bitterness, and the sides indicate the sourness. The coffee shouldn’t be too thin or too thick, because either way, it wouldn’t taste good. So we’re supposed to enjoy the full flavor of the coffee, be it sour sweet or bitter? Right? Hmm… Alright, I’ll bear them in mind and try it out the next time. Really nice of Guan Lim to share the tips with us!

Then we were talking about Diamond rings. MUWAHAHAHA!! Girl’s favourite topic. This tip i’ll surely bear in mind. Soo Kee’s Briliant Rose, D Color right!? Ask for Michelle can get discount right? 0.5 carat might not be enough even though the Brilliant Rose D Color will look like a 0.75 leh. Hahahaha!! Guan Lim jokingly said I should get a 0.1 carat, and then slowly upgrade every year. =_=” Nooooo, I should listen to Jeslin instead!

Anyway, we didn’t manage to pay Soo Kee a visit after the meet up with Guan Lim and Jeslin. Fortunate enough because when we got to our car, the Tudung Auntie was right there!! She was about to key in our vehicle details and give us a summon ticket, but luckily Raymond started the engine from far, and that gave us time to sprint over to the car. Actually we only placed 1 coupon for 10am, and we left only at around 11.35am. Hahaha. Phew!! Alright, no more next time!

Some pictures from their AD Wedding on the 4th of October. Just the morning event collection. Jeslin wore a black evening gown for the night event, and the dress is really really very nice! Jeslin carried it well! Will share once Raymond is done with the pictures. He’s currently in the midst of Su Lynn and Wei Hann’s AD shoot now at St Regis. I cannot visualise how their March-In will look like, cos they chose a very significant song for their march-in, and the volume is supposed to be “Impactful”. And they were quite specific about the timing as well, with instructions like “to shine the light on the door at 0.20s”. Can’t wait to see the pictures!

Jeslin chose a gown with a long train, instead of having a big cancan. Very nice! I like the long flowy effect. I thought it’ll look good if brides wear that for a church wedding.

That’s super cool Guan Lim!! He’s really tall at 1.88m (huat ah! So many 8! Hahaha!), and because of the height, they have to custom made their bed.

That’s Why Keen from Ichirofilms doing the Videography for Guan Lim & Jeslin’s wedding. I haven’t met him in person, but from what Raymond told me, he’s a really nice and friendly guy with no airs at all. Glad he managed to make some friends with fellow comrades in the same line.

That’s Jeslin’s nails! Pink crystals with tiny beads of pearls forming a lovely heart shape! Will dig the collection for more pictures tomorrow!

Wow, the brothers must be hungry! I wonder what’s in the bread…

Wah, solid guy! Must be well trained and prepared for this already.

I like this picture!

This is the funny funny part! The sisters were asking Guan Lim, which part of Jeslin’s body is his favourite. The brothers thought this must be some tricky tricky question, and so in order to be on the “safe” side and to be spared from further gruesome torture, Guan Lim & the brothers decided to give “toes” as the answer! Muwahahaha. The sisters really wanted to help them, so they asked to confirm whether they were sure that’s their final answer.. They said yes, and so the sisters flashed out a can of whipped cream and had one of their brother’s toes covered with that. Guan Lim then had to lick up the cream… Oh my goodness! I laughed until tears came out from my eyes when I heard that from Raymond! Muwahahahahaha!! The answer was not that safe afterall!

AWWWWW!!! *tears hair apart* Love the expression on the brother’s face! Hahahaha! Ticklish or not? =p

Then Guan Lim had to put on make up for the brothers.

Kissy kissy.

No, not pointing the middle finger.

Guan Lim had to paint nails for this brother. Hehehe.

Guan Lim looked like a professional make up artist here. Look how delicately he’s handling this brother’s make up.

Now all seated on the couch like real ladies. So demure. Hahaha!

Love her expression!

FINALLY!!

MUWAHAHAHA! The wolf is coming to eat the little sheep! Arrrggghhh!! Hahaha! Guan Lim, you really rocked lah!

And not forgetting to smack Raymond later… who ask him never steal a pair back home for me. Tsk.

Yesterday we met up with Vincent and Ann at West Coast MacDonald’s. Very funny couple! Vincent kept insisting that Ann is actually 2 years older than him, when that’s not the truth, as insisted by Ann. Hahaha. And when Raymond shared with them an idea of his, Vincent asked us not to share anymore ideas because the ideas will cause the hole in his pocket to grow bigger and bigger. =p

Anyway, Ann has a really good complexion! It’s no wonder she’s an air stewardess from SIA. And guess what, Vincent is a Pilot!! Wow, all the interesting occupation. Hmm… I wonder whether the 10 brothers and 10 sisters are working in the same line or not. Then Vincent was telling us how his gang of brothers and him are going to la kopi at the coffee shop and have prata if the sisters still refuse to let them in during the gate crashing. Make the sisters negotiate with them, ask for lesser ang pow money to make the brothers come back instead. Muahahaha!

In the midst of the meet up, Guan Lim called. Such a coincidence that I was just thinking of their Wedding the previous day, and then on the next day he called. Haha! We’ll be meeting up on the 30 September to discuss the schedule. Quite excited! Hope they are all set and ready for the big day! =)

Alright, here are some not nice pictures of Raymond during a corporate shoot.

Going up on the forklift, trying to grab angles of the exterior building. Dangerous!!

Just look at his expression. When he was done with the angle, he asked the driver to bring him down. But the driver heard wrongly, or accidentally pressed wrong button, lowered the bars forward instead of lowering it straight down. Luckily Raymond did grab hold of whatever he could grab hold of, else we can all claim insurance already. Accident at work. Hahaha.

Scared until pee in pants, so must drink water to replenish the lost fluid.

Every shoot involves a lot of sweat and tears.

Sweat is because the place was really warm and humid, and the weather that day was burning hot. Oh by the way, if there’s any person whom you dislike, go get a pair of Camel Active shoes and step on their toes. Try it, it’ll hurt like hell! That’s where the tears come…

Test shot.

Way up high on the fork lift again. It’s much safer this time round.

Ooops!! Undies exposed!! O_O”. Raymond must have been slogging too hard already, until the jeans became so loose. Awww…

Still can smile so happily at the camera! Hahahaha!! Bet when he sees his “Edison Chen“ exposed undies picture, I don’t think he’s able to smile anymore… =p

That’s stylo Ivan passing the camera to Raymond. He always dress up very stylo-ish whenever I see him around.

It was actually raining cats and dogs in the morning. But the moment we reached the place, the rain stopped miraculously! 3 times already.

Remember I saw a mouse trap?? This is the one!! First time I saw one right before my eyes.

Poor mousey, feeling super terrified and helpless. I was soooo tempted to let it go!! But Raymond said I cannot do that… =\

The Set up.

This is the inside of the Monstrous container truck. I hit my butt against the metal thing and I realised I need more calcium else I might be buttless the next time such things happen.

The inside.

Ivan’s sexy legs. Hahaha. Raymond said “you think you’re shooting wedding ah?” Muwahahaha.

They like this picture cos the reflection is pretty. But I made it so dark and sinister, it doesnt look pretty anymore.

Hmm… Alright, enough of the corporate shoots! I want to share some stuffs that I personally like! =D

Mr Swirly! Raymond shot this at Botanic Gardens during one of the Mentorship session with Uncle Patrick.

I thought this looked pretty disgusting. The red color plant…

PRETTY CAKES!!! Wow, the cakes in Japan are soooo delicate and pretty!! How to eat?? I haven’t been to Japan, but Raymond snapped this for me during his Osaka trip. I think I’ll go crazy if I were there. Japan must be the land of Cutsey stuffs!

WOW! FOOD!! This looks like our local Satay, but I wonder how’s the real flavour like. Hmm..

Some little fishies poked through sticks, and grilled.

I thought this particular doll looked really funny with the fishball eyes and pork bun ears. Hahaha. This is from China.

Cutsey stuff from Japan again!

Alright, end of sharing for now. More next time! =)
