We did a quick Lou Hei together, but instead of the Four Lettered Words, we spewed things like “10 boyfriends for Susu”, “早生贵子” for Ben and Becky (even though they’re not yet married) etc. It’s a 乱七八糟乱乱捞 lou hei session for us… and we actually forgot to say RPP HUAT AH! Hahahahaha! That gives me the excuse to Lou a second time… then I can feast on the yummy Yu Sheng again. Kekeke.

Anyway, Roy and Amy engaged Raymond to do their conceptualised pre-wedding where Ben and I assisted for the shoot on two different days.

Conceptualised pre-wedding by Raymond Phang – this was shot when the Adidas Sundown Marathon race was about to begin. Chaotic, mad rush, but glad it turned out well.

Ben will tend to take note of little details on the wedding day, such as the time, the surrounding area (which most people don’t really take the time to have a good look despite living there for years), couples’ love momentos to each other, trophies etc… which speaks a lot for the couple throughout their growing up years.

While Amy was in the room having her hair and make up done by Joanne Low, here’s what happened on the outside… Love the mood here.

Top :: The convertible dresses on the sisters are really versatile, you can wear it in a million ways! Maybe not exactly a million, but you get the drift… you can wear it in many many different ways! Love the royal purple color!

Just a side note, for brides looking for bridesmaid dresses, maybe you can also check out this shop named Occasion at Raffles City Shopping Centre. If I’m not wrong, the shop is located at #03-29B. I happened to pop by few months back and saw quite a number of bridesmaid dresses in different patterns and sweet colors. Price is reasonable, and if I didn’t remember wrongly, they have a price tier for the number of dresses you purchase.

Roy and Amy had their solemnization on the same day, and they engaged my favourite Justice of Peace/Solemnizer (JP) Dr Phua Tan Tee!

Dr Phua Tan Tee gives people a warm fuzzy feeling with a fatherly figure, he’s good with English, Mandarin, and also Hokkien! He never fails to liven up the ceremony with his jokes and advices.

She has a super duper powerful memory, she remembers the slightest details and names of couples getting married in Oriental even though their wedding is not handled by her! Do consider Mandarin Oriental if you’re clueless on where to hold your wedding banquet. Of course it will be good to check for availability and book early to avoid disappointment as well. That’s a piece of advice we give to couples, and the same advice that couples feedback to us after the wedding too. Hahahaha!

The next photography contest that Raymond Phang entered was the ISPWP (International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers) Fall 2011 contest. We received seven placings in different categories, and was placed third in the Top 20 Overall winners of the Fall 2011 Wedding Photography Contest.

Backup will take up quite some time, especially when we have to burn and verify all the discs, properly label them, double check that all files can be opened in another machine, and then store them in appropriate disc folders. Afterwhich we’ll need to also back up the files in the NAS (network-attached storage system). So in total we’ll have a copy of the wedding images in the main workstation, another copy burnt in DVD archives, and another set in the NAS. We’ll be setting up another NAS backup system in another location for the “just in case”. Call us Kiasu, but the backup is really necessary and especially important, and to ensure that the systems run + shut down smoothly, we even invested in backup power supply for the individual CPUs and NAS in case of power breakdown.

I think I have digressed again. -_-”

Anyway, today’s entry is to introduce Raymond Phang Photography to you guys, with an addition to the creative team.

The living Mascots of Raymond Phang Photography – Satin (on the left) and Bailey (on the right)!!! Satin is a very tamed and gentle + extremely shy chihuahua. Once you carry her she can just fall asleep in your arms. She don’t bark at all until she started learning all the bad things from Bailey. We adopted her, and she’s actually the sister of Bailey. Always bullied by Bailey, super curious, and you have to slowly approach her else she’ll just run away and hide underneath the table.

Bailey is a super playful, vocal, highly intelligent Chihuahua. We bought him from a friend when he’s about 2-3 months old when he used to hug pencil to sleep in place of a bolster. He’s super curious and enjoys playing hard to get. He’s quite vocal initially when guests come over. But once guests settle down, he’ll quit his barking and starts to wander off doing his own things. The next time he’ll start barking again is when guests leave. Somehow he knows it when it’s time. We’re still figuring out how and why.

This is Raymond our principal photographer. He observes the event, goes with the flow and captures as it is on a wedding day. We always tell couples 80% of Raymond’s style of shooting is like a fly on the wall, he doesnt interact much on the wedding day unless absolutely necessary. The remaining 20% would be posed shots such as unconventional group photos, or in the spur of the moment he’s suddenly inspired by something, he’ll ask if couples would like to have a quick posed shot to be taken. That’s why some couples thought our shots look like pre-wedding when they’re actually taken on a wedding day.

Raymond is a spontaneous person, cheeky, talented and highly intelligent. Throw him lemons and he’ll use the skin to sundry make dried lemon snacks, use the fruit to make lemonade, save a little to be used for lemon meringues and also for beauty purposes to lighten skin etc. =_=”

He graduated from Singapore Polytechnic with a diploma totally not related to Photography, went to NS, and Photography is his first full time job. We were formerly known as Raymondfotographie when we first started out, and we did a rebrand few years later to the current Raymond Phang Photography. The journey to where we are now (although not very accomplished) has not been the most easy, and we never could have done it without the support and understanding from our family.

But don’t see he cheeky cheeky, he’s an extremely serious person when it comes to work. We are not allowed to disturb him when he’s at work, otherwise we’ll be in deep shit. I can say he’s quite a demanding person also with high expectation to the work quality delivered. An anal perfectionist always hoping there’s more time on hand to perfect his works.

*Stress*

Next comes Angeline (aku, saya dan sendiri). I handle all the admin stuffs such as email enquiries, maintain and update the blog and facebook, paperwork filing, accounts, pricing structure, PR, HR, marketing, meetup with couples, daydream for the conceptualised pre-wedding and liaise with couples for the logistics, assist for pre-wedding shoots and provide opinions (which my boss calls me the art director), do R&D, cleaner, PA to boss, album layout + touch ups bla bla bla… =_=”

Not very intelligent, and I always picture my world to be super duper colorful (cos I love colors), filled with amazing things/ideas that we’ll probably not see happening on Planet Earth. My favourite activity of the day would be sleep. Because it’s the only time I can dream of the impossible, especially things I’d like to see it happen in reality but can never happen. Things such as giant marshmellow cottage house in shades of pastel pink and yellow sitted on a huuuuuuuuuuge patch of nicely trimmed carpet grass with red+white spotty mushrooms growing here and there (not forgetting dandelions too), then there’s bunnies hopping around chewing on baby carrots, bambi lazing around, subtle golden sunray peeking through the clouds. And then innocent kids giggling chasing each other across the field, suddenly the sky starts to rain. Not the normal rain but sparkly diamond dust, with an awesome hugeass rainbow sprouting from the far end.

Everything is nice, warm and fuzzy. But not all of my dreams end up on a sweet note. Sometimes it continues to something like this; the kids suddenly feel the earth moving, shaking, and realised it’s a quake. Bunnies hopped for their lives, bambi still lazing around, kids screaming and running in circles. The quake got more and more violentl, and the clouds slowly turned dark. The kids look up to the sky and see a pair of giant hands reaching out for them! They got toppled over and started spinning around. End up it’s an evil witch with nose the length of a cue stick. She captured the kids and put them into the snowglobe as puppets. Hence the diamond dust rain. -_-”

*Stress*

Next up is SUSU! She has got a lot of nicknames such as Susu (her real name is Sulin), Susulini, Sushimi, and sometimes new nicknames when we’re inspired to call her something else. Muwahahahaha! Susu first joined us in September (2009?) when we put an Ad looking for D-Eye artist, which is actually D.I Artist (Digital Imaging). Her email caught our attention amongst the many application, so we decided to ask her for an interview where they had to process some raw images.

The result of her images came out with purple colored skin tones, but we decided to confirm her anyway because of her attitude. Personally we find that attitude is one of the most important factor. She can click well with us, and had the room + potential to improve.

I remember the first day of work I placed a box of chocolates and sweets on her desk, and kept feeding her with food in case she shy don’t dare to raid the fridge for food. Now she’s a professional fridge + cupboard raider, and her skills have improved tremenduously over the past years. No more purple cast, and much more detailed.

Susu is a “I’m anything one” person, but sometimes she’s also not that person. Pretty prideful at times, but definitely crazy enough to do stupid things such as flashing to a field of cows in New Zealand with truck driving past and driver saw her flashing, humping the sakura lookalike tree in Prague just to make the petals fall for a conceptualised pre-wedding shoot and had people fiercely asking her to better stop it yet she continue humping the tree.

Sometimes she’ll play angsty music in office, and she can listen to a song on repeat mode for the whole day. Sometimes we’ll have little chats in between work, talking about Lotus and discussing how the robber will let us go if we tell him his lotus will not open if he robs us.

Besides doing DI work, susu is also a good photographer, and second shoot sometimes. Not forgetting she also assist Raymond for conceptualised pre-wedding shoots carrying lights (sometimes have to hold till whole body starts to vibrate like lao pok car engine), throwing food and money etc.

In short, this angsty anything one lady here specialise on the digital imaging work, does occasional shoots, and also assist for conceptualised pre-wedding when required. Oh if you’re a hug person like Susu, feel free to hug her.

Next up, our new addition – BEN CHAN the crazy potato!! He has a few nicknames too, sometimes I call him Benito, Benoi, Bennie etc.

He was first introduced to us by Angthommie (Thomas the awesome photographer from peeeeeeeepiiiiiiiing thom). So Angthommie text me the website to view Ah ben’s works. Not bad, this lad has got potential. Ah ben has been assisting Angthommie for a couple of shoots, also second shoot at a few weddings as well.

The first time I met Ah Ben face to face was at SOHO, when he came up with Angthommie to borrow the Sun Gun for a pre-wed shoot. He looked so serious and no nonsense, I scared. HAHAHAHA!

So after their pre-wed shoot ended, we met up at Lavender area for supper at Cheng Mun Kee (delicious meatballs). Ah Ben was super quiet, super shy. But maybe because he was too tired to entertain us, so nevermind.

Then he started helping us with some DI work as well. He dropped by SOHO alone, he was super quiet as usual, so anti social, sit one corner don’t dare take water to drink etc. But strangely, feedback from Angthommie is that Ah Ben is NOT LIKE THAT ONE…..

Which is true… because after working with him for a few times, he slowly started to open up to us. He’s really sweet and good natured, extremely hardworking and effort 100%.

Besides photography, Ah Ben enjoys breaking an arm or a leg with this activity called Long Boarding. Hahahaha! His favourite drink when he’s tired happens to be Red Bull + Naughty G, he can eat like 2 packets of Nasi Bryani at one go for lunch and feel hungry 10 minutes later. If you guys are interested to have your wedding shot in Film, Ah Ben is also the man you can look for.

He has assisted us for a couple of conceptualised pre-wedding shoots such as Roy and Amy, Tony and Cheryl, Eileen & TP, did a few batches of editing for wedding day, also second shoot for a few weddings as well.

Raymond is very pleased with Ah Ben for his work attitude, and also the potential to be an awesome photographer.

So Ah Ben will join us officially as a full time photographer in October, and we’ll be participating in the Style Weddings Love Affair 2011 roadshow happening from 6-9 October 2011, 11am to 9pm at Main atrium level 1 Plaza Singapura. We will be launching a super attractive promo bundle for full day wedding photography coverage for Ben + Susu’s photography service, only for signups at the roadshow. You will not regret coming down for a visit. Hehehe.

One shot of Daphne sharing a sweet moment in her getting ready state. She had to wake up about 5am in the morning, but she was bright and chirpy throughout the whole day. I guess the excitement really kept her going.

Daphne’s lovely wedding gown from Bridal Veil – Michelle Huimin. Quite a number of our couples picked Bridal Veil for their excellent and dedicated service, and I remember one of our previous couple Rachel & Morrison wrote an entry on their service, and it was nothing but raves of good reviews.

Love the exquisite design of the peeptoe heels.

Brother on right: “Eh, I heard today got solid breakfast for us! You eaten already or not? I fasted the whole of yesterday just for the breakfast later.”

I shall name this Brother on right as Brother X.

The gang arrived at the mini outdoor cafe. Alfresco breakfast with yummy bandung (rose syrup, one of my favourite drink), nutritious sandwiches made with love, peppered bitter gourd skewer, soury yoghurt thingy to aid your digestion, what more can one ask right?
But before the brothers lay their hands on the breakfast, they had to answer some questions first. Sisters were kind enough to include some hints and multiple choices.

Unfortunately they did not gave the correct answer, but the sisters were kind enough anyway to let them have the sandwiches. Ben took a bite and he felt so happy because it’s been such a long time ever since he last ate such delicious sandwiches. It’s so spicy, but shiok at the same time. So all the brothers decided to take one for themselves too.

Brother X took a bite, AND I SUPER LOVE HIS EXPRESSION!!!! MUWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

The questionnaire went on and on, end up they finished the spicy sandwiches, drank diabetic bandung, gobbled sour yoghurt and munched the crunchy bittergourd. After having their tummy filled, there were even entertaining games and healthy exercises for them to do.

Brothers were supposed to swing the basketball into the basket, and i love the first picture where the ball covered Ben’s face coincidentally!

Then they had to do sit ups and ate grapes dangling from undies. *coughs* I know I mentioned before on not posting too many gate crashing images anymore, but this series had too many happy faces, I thought I’d share a mini portion with you guys.

You’d have realised by now that I haven’t post any pictures of Daphne’s frontal view right? Kekeke.

While Daphne was getting ready for the Solemnisation, the groom and brothers had time for some “group photo”. The solemnisation ceremony was supposed to be held at the Creek, which is at the Pool area, but the sky decided to be generous and rained showers of blessings on that day, so they had to shift the ceremony indoors.

The guests had a quick bite right after the solemnisation.

This one took quite some time cos they had to wait for the lift (sometimes 1 lift was in use, so had to wait, then when that lift finally came, someone had to press for the lift from another level and up it went etc). Finally they managed to get this shot of both lift at same level, and the couple looking at each other.

Some set up shots of the ballroom and reception area. I super love colorful receptions!!! The lollies, cute little cards for guests to write their blessings, handmade ang pow box and pretty flowers! Everything looks so sweet and happy!!

And here comes the couple for their first March-in!

And it’s Speech Time! Daphne got a little emotional, but her mummy-in-law actually went up and comfort her. Speaking of couple’s speech, some just gave a straight forward thank you, some really went all out to thank every single one of their friends who helped at the wedding. Some really heartfelt and touching ones that sometimes make Raymond himself feel like crying too, and some really funny ones that tickled the guests.

Last week I attended my cousin’s wedding at Goodwood Park Hotel, my cousin in law’s speech was so unforgettable! He started off by thanking everyone for taking the time to attend their wedding especially on a weekday, thanking the parents, the siblings and relatives, and then the epic one came when he started to thank my cousin. It was all sweet and romantic, until he said something like this;

“Daddy mummy, no worries, I have found someone who can take care of you already!!”

I don’t know, it might not sound hilarious, but the way he put it got everyone laughing. Heh heh heh heh.

Not forgetting during the champagne popping they actually broke the chandelier. So funny!!! To some couples incidents like this might make them paranoid, get all stressed up and cannot properly enjoy the rest of the dinner. But it’s little hiccups like this that makes people remember the wedding too.

Okokie, back to Ben and Daphne’s wedding!

I’m really happy for Ben and Daphne, and through their personal wedding website, I got to know more about this sweet couple. When they came by to pick up their DVD, I totally enjoyed sitting through the session when they browsed through their images. Daphne is just so bubbly that she gave funny comments for almost all the images, and Ben as always will smile and laugh in a more discreet manner as compared to Daphne.

Anyway, congratulations once again guys! Hope to hear some good news on your status “upgrades” soon! Muwahahaha!

They are super duper well prepared. A OUB ONG UNITED BANK Cheque……………… Pay to Sisters……….. Singapore dollars $888,888… But I think the cheque got rejected… cos the numerical numbers and the spelling doesnt match. Should be eight hundred + eighty eight thousand and eight hundred + eighty eight dollars.. minus the “+” sign… right? :p

So with the bounced cheque, brothers had no choice but to dance and perform for everyone. I like the first image at the top cos best man looks like he’s doubting groom’s ability… don’t know can dance or not…. and groom was wearing a smirk on his face. Dance till pro pro hor li si!! Muwahahahaha! Must have looked good with Loud! Productions’ skills…

Next he was tested on his sewing skills. He sewed the word 爱 which means ‘Love’ in Chinese. Success!

KW: “WHAT?? U mean my cheque bounced?? How can it be?? I am so angry!”

Brothers: “Chill bro, chill… come, drink water first… I think the horse leg is revealed, bo bian lah, we have to use the Yusof Ishaks already…”

I think I like this series a lot because there were a lot of shy shy and cute moments like this… you know, like those kind of traditional older days where newly weds super shy on their wedding day, tease bit bit will blush like mad. LOL!

Touch ups and preparation to the Solemnisation ceremony at the Glass Pavillion – Amara Sanctuary Sentosa.

A lot of brides love the glass pavillion cos It’s pretty princessy and cosy. Luckily the weather was kind to them with a not so sunny afternoon.

They had Professor Yu Shi Ming as their Justice of Peace (JP), who also happens to be one of the more popular ones our couples usually engage for their solemnisation.

That’s a before and after image. Before the vows and rings exchange, and after.

Another one of my favourite image, and I just cannot explain why…

After they were done with the solemnisationa and tea ceremony, evening part was back at Amara Sanctuary Ballroom. Sky was raining a bit during the evening, but all was good!

Usually we do not do the formal group photos, but here’s one specially to thank Mia and Clarabelle for their help at Kangwei & Shuqin’s pre-wedding shoot earlier on.

Ta-Dah!

The couple engaged a three piece band from A Little Dream, with Bevlyn Khoo the femal vocal, Zhengquan the male vocal and Ein Ein on the keyboard. They were hitting numbers like La Isla Bonita (too bad no dance floor for the guests to shake their bons bons and swing their heads), Dream a little dream, Quando Quando Quando, and also several Chinese pieces

And then it’s a bit of mingling with the scary guests while waiting for second march in. Proud mummy showing off her daughter to the guests, and poor daughter had to drink and drink and drink. Kangwei had to help her fend off the leeches. Muwahahahaha~ :p

Best man Chak’s speech and Maid of Honour Angie’s speech which touched the couple.

Next on was the couple’s speech which had the guests exploded in laughter. Epic nugget of information on that day from Angie which goes something along the line of this;

One day Kangwei suddenly looked at Shuqin with loving eyes, touched her hair gently, like so romantic and told Shuqin this – Dear you complete me, because for the things I don’t like to do, you’ll do them for me.

*FAINTS*! HAHAHAHAHAHA!

Moving on, more drinking action at the tables. Big sister big says STOP, we kiss, we don’t drink. So the kissing had to go on for as long as the yam seng was on. LOL!

Shuqin’s mummy also did a good job making sure the the friends and relatives are well taken care of, she also drink drank drunk, just like the couple.

More drinking action……….. -_-”…. Why not have an ice cream eating action…. :p

Ah ma also wants a piece of the action but don’t have. :p

We also had the opportunity to photograph Colin and Emily’s pre-wedding in New Zealand, damn awesome shots, and super enjoyable! We can do it a million times over, and I believe even after the millionth time is done, we’ll still want more. But I shall not sidetrack, will keep my focus on their Actual Day Wedding for this post. :p

So… here goes!

The couple actually got to know each other during their school days, and they’ve been together for almost 10 long years already!

Jean Aw (a friend of the couple and also Andrew + Sylvia) did the hair and make up for Emily that day. Wonder why was she laughing so hard until she was sitting on the floor!

Preparation for the gatecrashing, so pretty still go do Heart shape pattern on top of the gooey bitter gourd mixture.

I’m not gonna share too much images on gatecrashing, just a very few images.. otherwise it might scare the groom/brothers away~ This time round the girls are so considerate, before the start of the gatecrashing games, they offered the Po Chi Pills to the groom and brothers, to prepare their stomach for the just-in-case!

We have encountered cases whereby grooms and brothers puked and had tummyache during the wedding, which can be quite a spoiler for the couple as it affects the mood of the entire day. So maybe can refrain from playing with too much food stuffs, otherwise gotta take extra care and make hygiene practice a top priority. Or maybe… po chi pills at the start will be a good alternative. LOL!!

Super love the cake design, so pretty! And look at their wedding favour – a bottle of happy pills for the guests, label designed by couple, and they had friends to help them pack + label the bottles individually. Made with loveeeee!

Here’s the second change, with this beautiful pink cheongsam gown, also from Dang Bridal. It’s really really pretty!

Couple shared the first dance together~

There were a whole lot of happy images from Colin and Emily’s wedding, and I love it! I love it when the couple knows how to enjoy and relax on their wedding, when Susu (our digital plastic surgeon) saw the images, she also enjoyed working on the images. Raymond had fun shooting the wedding, everyone is happy!

I think this is cute! First time I see couple drink champagne so cute one.. Usually it’ll be the cross arms, you drink yours and I drink mine kind.. Hahaha~
