Gatecrashing Ideas – Inspiration, Tips & Tricks!

I was looking through some of the past and recent wedding images taken by Raymond, and I thought it’ll be interesting to do an entry on the different gatecrashing games played by the brothers and sisters from various weddings! I left out the common leg hair waxing and bikini stuffs, and here’s a short list of games to consider! Enjoy! :)

The Simple Games

(From Paul & Evelyn’s actual day wedding on 24 October 2009)

Set a dress code, get all brothers to follow strictly. Appear for the gatecrashing with a happy spirit, do whatever you’re told to do by the lovely sisters and you’ll enjoy the happy day! Push ups are pretty common, but push ups are beneficial to your health, so why not? Make the brothers do 100 within 60 seconds! Perhaps with a bowl of eggs placed right below their tummy so that during the last few seconds when they cannot tahan anymore or cos they’re rushing to complete within time, they might land and crash on the eggs, or roll over to the side and bang into the brother next to them, and all of them fall like dominos. Muwahahahaha! You can replace eggs for ice, or water or flour, or anything you desire! (:

BYO- Bring Your Own

(From Desmond & Jolene’s actual day wedding on 25 October 2009)

I think the brothers are smart enough to make it a Two Way Bargaining session. The brothers came prepared, brought their own suitcase of treasure with ang pows. No idea what’s the least and maximum amount in the ang pow, but the sister had to make a choice. Interestingggg…

Scary Foodies

(From Edwin & Eunice’s actual day wedding on 21 November 2009)

Lemons are sourrrrr! How will lemon taste if you coat it with an extra layer of Citric Acid??? Muwahahahaha!! Maybe coat the lemon with citric acid, then rub it on any body part of one of the selected brother….. and…. the groom…. shall…. LICK IT CLEAN! Kekeke.

(From Guan Lim & Jeslin’s actual day wedding on 4 October 2008)

Speaking of Licking, here’s one of our all time favourite gatecrashing game. Guan Lim being the smart aleck, answered TOES to the sisters’ question of “Which part of Jeslin’s body is his favourite.” Tsk tsk tsk, and thus he had to lick off the whipped cream on the brother’s toes. Not all sisters are evil to think of tricky tricky questions to land you in trouble you know. Sometimes they meant well, no harm! :p

(From Andrew & Clarice’s actual day wedding on 11 October 2008)

However there’s always the exception – the Evil sisters. They’ll mix and match the weirdest stuffs on earth like smelly rotten beancurd with perhaps wasabi or bananas or other gooey stuffs altogether. Eeeeew! But weird food stuffs are generally discouraged for fear that the groom and his merrymen will puke and shit in their pants. Don’t let this moment of “folly” spoil the whole day ya?

(From Hiro & Serena’s actual day wedding on 7 December 2008)

Playing on the groom’s fear might be good. Chilli padi or single food stuff are alright, just don’t mix, and don’t use food/drinks that you obviously know the poor groom has an allergy to.

(From Kuan Wee & Pei Yu’s actual day wedding on 31 December 2008)

And for the greedy merrymen, sometimes the prettiest thing might look good, but not necessary taste good. ;)
This evil plate of dish made Kuan Wee spat from the second level to the first, and the poor dog dog sprinted to lick it all up. =_=”

Sexy Sexy – The Role Reversal Game

(From John & Ei-leen’s actual day wedding on 7 September 2008)

The evil sisters somehow enjoy seeing guys dress themselves up as women! So it’s inevitable that the merrymen will have to go through this.

(From Andrew & Clarice’s actual day wedding on 11 October 2008)

Other ways of dressing up the guy. No need for bikini cos bikini looks good only on skin and not clothes! Unless the merrymen strips…. now that’s another question altogether…

(From Hiro & Serena’s actual day wedding on 7 December 2008)

Make them danceeeeee!

(From Jonald & Yutong’s actual day wedding on 7 November 2009)

Such an intimate physical body contact! I think the ladies never fails to go Gaga when they see things like this! Hahahaha! This is Entertainment! :p

(From Jonald & Yutong’s actual day wedding on 7 November 2009)

How about some kissy kissy? Kekeke! Next time shall make them do away with the “safety barrier”!!

(From Jonald & Yutong’s actual day wedding on 7 November 2009)

Next, the brother had to chew off this buns on the groom’s chest cos inside the buns there’s a secret note and they have to follow the instructions written on it to proceed on to the next stage.

(From Jerry & Michelle’s actual day wedding on 6 October 2009)

This is pretty “man”, but pretty R(A) too!! *covers eye*

(From Richard & Wendy’s actual day wedding on 9 May 2009)

What a cute “bra” Richard is holding on close to his chest! He had to sing and dance while wearing this, but being cheeky, Richard even placed it on his head to make it look like… I don’t know, a genetically modified Mickey Mouse? Muwahahahaha!

The Innocent Games

(From Teck Yong & Wanling’s actual day wedding on 20 September 2009)

Create something out of the things the groom really detest, and find ways to make it stay with the groom throughout the entire gate crashing! In this case, the groom really hates Mushroom, so the clever sisters made a super cute mushroom earing and headband for the groom to wear! Real mushrooms! Innocent enough, right?

(From Morrison & Rachel’s actual day wedding on 2 August 2009)

This can be an innocent game, but can be quite a torture as well. You know… with age…. your bones have all stiffened up… so… you can’t really go…. that… L….O…..W…..

(From Koh & Ting Yin’s actual day wedding on 29 May 2009)

An innocent game too! Yoga is fun, yoga is healthy! Has anyone seen Yoda doing Yoga? I think it’ll be funny! Get the brothers to dress up as Yoda and do the Yoga!!

(From Herman & Janet’s actual day wedding on 19 April 2009)

Diapers? Disposable undies? *scratch head* It’s so innocent, kids can join in and play too! :D

Usually the sisters will draw the initials of the bride onto the diapers/undies and make them wear it on their butt, perform a cute sexy little dance and that’s all. Easy and simple!

Gather the Troops!

(Taken from Lionel & Angel’s actual day wedding on 17 November 2007)

When all things fail, leave it to the elderly!!

Ah-Ma says: “Eh, kui meng ah! buay sai sng liao, xi gan gao liao!” Which literally means, open the door, stop playing, time’s up!! You know how particular the elderly folks are about the auspicious timing? Always recruit a granny in your band of brothers!

(From Win-son & Faith’s actual day wedding on 29 November 2009)

And if the evil sisters make you eat something which you do not want to eat, flash your Ace card and win the battle!

(From Win-son & Faith’s actual day wedding on 29 November 2009)

Ah-ma says humph, 放马过来吧!(release your horse to me). Give me another 10 and I’ll gobble them all the same!! Ah-ma power!!

(From Jack & Grace’s actual day wedding on 1 January 2009)

Make sure they’re all dressed in black to appear scaaaaary! And also please try to include at least ONE charismatic brother. Once you have that in your checklist, half the battle is won. :p

(From Terence & Jann’s actual day wedding on 18 October 2009)

This time round, the poor photographer was roped in to help the sisters with the preparation. They placed lip gloss on Raymond’s lips and he had to put his sexy lipstick mark on the piece of paper together with the bride and other sister’s lipstick marks. But guess which one did the groom picked? Raymond’s!!! Hahahahaha!

Convert thy Enemy, or convert Thyself

(From John & Ei-leen’s actual day wedding on 7 September 2008)

The brother actually tried to bully the poor boy and make him eat the banana on his behalf. Tsk tsk tsk. Luckily boy boy was smart enough not to eat! Attempt at converting – FAIL! :p

(From Kok Meng & Cassies actual day wedding on 3 October 2009)

Poor Kok Meng had to do the push up all by himself!! Noticed that all the brothers did nothing but stood and watch at a side?? Luckily the groom was super duper fit enough to finish everything by himself!! Cassie has gotten herself a fit fit groom! Booboo to the nuanua brothers, and see what the groom has to say in the above image! :p

Aww so sweet

(From Chye Tuan & Siang Yin’s actual day wedding on 10 May 2009)

Groom and merrymen singing sweet sweet love song for the bride. Look how much the groom is enjoying it. So sweet!! :)

Seal the Deal

(From Ho Wei & Eileen’s actual day wedding on 6 June 2009)

Usually the sisters will help the bride prepare a pretty contract like this one, where the groom puts his signature and agree to all the terms and conditions stated on the contract. Conditions such as giving all the monthly salary and bonuses to the wife, promise not to be angry with each other at the end of the day if they ever quarrel, do housework blablala… which I think is pretty bogus! Cos after the couple put both their signature on the piece of paper call the marriage certificate, the terms and conditions stated on this contract automatically becomes invalid. So in order to prevernt such things from happening, engage a lawyer and have a reeeeal one made! :p

The OH-MY-OH-MY GOODNESS!!

(From Jonald & Yutong’s actual day wedding on 7 November 2009)

Have you seen THIS?? Such a scary piece of…. CHOCOLATE!! It’s actually the leftover chocolate from the bride’s hen party the night before. This “creature” was not supposed to be shown and used and displayed to the world, until Yutong’s mummy suddenly thought of it and suggested that they make full use of this for the gate crashing!

(From Michael & Dorothy’s actual day wedding on 19 September 2009)

See, even Michael thought it’s scary! Muwahahaha! Actually no lah, the bride was waking in and at that moment Michael only have eyes for her – the world’s most beautiful bride in his eyes. :)

.

.

Okie dokie, end of my sharing! Just a very few tips to share, so hope it’s at least a little bit useful! :)

(From Paul & Evelyn’s actual day wedding on 24 October 2009)

Have fun!! And be spontaneous!!

Put in a little Gas

Don’t mind the strange entry titles.
I have a normal tendency to title my entries with the title of the song that is
currently playing on my iTunes.
Its Susu here and I’ve managed to tie Angeline and Raymond up
and lock them in the storeroom
so that I can take control of this Blog.
I’ll make use of the Blog to gain fans and loyal followers,

AND NEXT I’LL TAKE OVER THE WORLD!!!
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA

don’t mind me I’m a rather random and crazy person.
Being sane is too boring for me.

Much to my amusement I think that alot of people are starting to believe
that my real name is Susu or Susulini (it sounds so Italian. -.- )
So just to clarify, its actually Sulin.
Its an english name, not chinese.
Susu is a nickname I’ve gotten since primary school
and then since recently (horrifyingly actually) resurrected by Angeline
before she decided that no, she likes words with more syllables and
christened me Susulini.

And Voila!
Thats how Susulini came about. :/

So its now the start of a new year.
Another one more month and it’ll be chinese new year for us.
Have you guys started preparing?
Getting red packet paper..snacks..pussy willows..
Heck have you started new year clothes shopping? :D
I know I haven’t.
Instead rather what I’ve started(or rather resumed)
is my cycling regime with my close friend.
We cycle every sunday and we just started last week.
We nearly died cycling back to Pasir Ris from East Coast because
we were so out of whack with cycling.
Which reminds me I still need to hunt for Hermit crabs for Raymond.
His dish of hermit crabs is already full of crabs but he still wants more.
He wants to turn it into some crab slum or something I think.
Oh yes back to the cycling.
We cycled from Pasir Ris to Changi and then towards East Coast,
before taking the park connectors back towards bedok and then to Pasir Ris.
Oh did I mention?
The park connectors from Bedok to East Coast is F*cked Up.
Especially the last underpass to East Coast.
Why they decide to throw a flight of stairs there instead of a ramp really boggles my mind.
Its as if the powers that be decided that it would be funny
to watch a bunch of cyclists go bumpity bump down the steps
because its located in a blind corner.

So yes, I now have a rather sore butt and aching legs from crazy cycling.
But yes! The sense of satisfaction is so much sweeter!
Weight Loss here I come!
(Weight Loss is like a taboo word here in the studio. Weight Gain is rather; the most encouraged thing)
Its quite hilarious actually because since the day I joined the studio I’ve gained
3kilos in total and probably gaining more bit by bit.
We eat sinful food, we don’t exercise and we park our asses on the
comfy oh so soft chair to edit photos, only to get up a few hours later for our next meal.

Awesome Life isn’t it? :P

I’m abit sad actually.
I had photos to show but it seems that I must have deleted the folder
by accident without checking if I backed them up.
STUPID SUSU STUPID STUPID GIRL!!!!
*smacks self*
I had some really cute photos of Baileys peeking out from under the
couch.
He always makes a beeline to hide under the couch whenever
he knows we’re going out because he’s emo about being left alone at home.
So I decided that I had to take a photo of that because its absolutely adorable.
So there I was spread eagled on  the floor with my camera
while Angeline pretends to close the door.
The moment the door latch clicked into its chamber
Baileys poked his head out from under the couch and scrabbled out gleefully.
Only to backtrack back under the couch again when he realised that he’s been fooled.
I really really hope I didn’t delete it by accident. :(
At the very most I just take more photos again of Baileys peeking from under the couch.
Which brings to mind this:
I always contemplated the idea of making a facebook page for Baileys.
I think it would be hilarious in a way.
To have friends adding Baileys on Facebook and checking his status updates complete with photos.
Should I make a Fb page for Baileys? :3

Let me know what you guys think!
Maybe with Angeline’s and Raymond’s approval we can make a Fb page for Baileys!
Look out for my next entry yeah?
I promise you it’ll be filled with images of Baileys and maybe Pets that I had fun shooting :D

Something random for you to wonder:
Have you ever wondered if the bills in your wallet were ever in a stripper’s buttcrack?
If you haven’t, well you’re wondering now.

Till my next post!
Susulini the Great.

The Gabriel Mendes Workshop

Hey guys! Apologies for the super lack of updates! Buried with the usuals (editing and photo shoots), but luckily we managed to find time to attend a super workshop yesterday! Had to sacrifice a shoot just so we could attend, but really, it was worth it! Met new friends like George and Link at The Gabriel Mendes Workshop, and got to know a little more about George from Aphotostory. I feel very happy when I personally get to know more about a person’s character, rather than to assume that I know them based on what I read from their blog. I must say George is a person whom I admire for his persistance and philosophy in producing images that tells a story rather than just making beautiful images which probably might have no meaning by itself. :)

We met another guy known as Link. But I thought “The Missing Link” suits him pretty much! Hahaha! Link is actually a writer with Mediacorp, with an impressive command of the chinese language! I secretly went to his blog (hey, why no updates anymore!?) and read a little of his stuffs. I think people who can read and write and speak good mandarin are soon becoming extinct. Hopefully after he steps foot on his journey of Photography, he’d still maintain this “good virtue”. Haha! A very sincere guy I must say, and hope he’ll enjoy the coming challenges of being a good wedding photographer! :)

The most beloved of all – Gabriel  Mendes, affectionately known to us as Master Sud Sud! The nickname came about when we attended the WPN workshop few months back, where Gabriel Mendes gave a talk on wedding photography. Couples go to him for Sud Sud images, and everything about him is Sud Sud. S U D S U D. And amazingly, we all agree that he deserves the Sud Sud title!! So we’ve been calling him Sud Sud ever since. Hahaha! Raymond and I always thought Gabriel Mendes is an ang moh or a “fusion” of Chinese with some exotic bloodline, but he’s actually a Chinese! Raymond and I always thought Gabriel Mendes would be a no nonsense, very atas and aloof person, but we were totally wrong. He’s actually really fun and wacky! No airs, and surprisingly very approaching! We’re glad we attended his workshop, learnt a hell lot of very useful things and got to know more about him! :)

Back to the workshop after thoughts. Both Raymond and I found it very useful, especially since what was taught really apply to the local context. It was a one full day worksop, starting at 9.30am and ended at around 8.15pm! It was supposed to end at 5.30pm, but Master Sud Sud still had so much to share with us! We learnt about finding our unique selling point, marketing, selling, branding, got to know how Gabriel Mendes Photography came about, and it was a super eye opener when Master Sud Sud showed us exactly how he present his works and albums to couples. We had a solid session of hands on practical/role play where Raymond and I pretended to be wedding couple visiting Gabriel Mendes Photography to browse his works. We threw him a lot of questions like what couples would ask wedding photographers, and Master Sud Sud managed it all soooo well that we wanted to sign on the spot! A really super exciting “ping pong” session, and Master Sud Sud indeed is the master.

The session continued at our studio where we all had a chance to present, and Master Sud Sud really have a knack for role play! It was his turn to act as a bride, and goodness he can really pull it off damn well! So funny!! Hahaha!! We would then all give our comments on the presentation, and Master Sud Sud taught us how to improve from there. The workshop is really very engaging, intensive, interactive, yet intimate and personal. A real pity for all those who missed the workshop!! Master Sud Sud was telling us it’ll be the one and only Gabriel Mendes Workshop, but we really hope there’ll be more to come cos it’s really beneficial. I’m sure Link will agree with me too. :)

Lunch and dinner was provided! Master Sud Sud brought us to this place for delicious Thai food at the Rail Mall known as Sweet Salty Spicy! Dinner was at Central, having the famous Ramen at Santouka. We then snapped some pictures, but unfortunately George had something to attend to, so he left us before dinner time. We had a lot of fun at the workshop, and thank you Master Sud Sud for the selfless sharing session! :)

Master Sud Sud is really tall too! And we forgot to snap a back view of his hair. So stylo!

Sandwiched by us. Hahaha!

As what he suggested, doing the “Mr and Mrs Smith” pose. :p

That’s Link and Master Sud Sud!

So formal… how about something informal?

Muwahahaha!! Tsk, I think this picture would look perfect without the extra me in the background.

Finally a candid group shot of us! :)

Selection from Terence & Jann’s Actual day wedding (morning highlights)

Heya!! Raymond is out for wedding shoot at Traders now, and I’m here to share some of the snippets from Terence and Jann’s wedding! Just the morning part, and this time round, I’m trying very hard to pick only a few images to share cos I guess too much images will make the whole blog load veeeery slowly. The rest can be found on our Raymond Phang Photography Facebook page! :)

But before I start with the pretty images, here’s a picture of Raymond’s very sexy legs! He got home yesterday from Daryl and Raine’s actual day wedding shoot and we both got a shock when we saw his knees after he came out from the shower. Bruises all over! No idea how and why it happened, but we both suspect it has got something to do with kneeling for an hour to capture the tea ceremony segment at Daryl and Raine’s wedding. Muwahahahaha! Wonder how are the couple’s knees! I guess that’s where the cushion comes into place!! I gotta start sewing shoulder pads in Raymond’s trousers already to prepare for any just-in-case cases. =_=”

Raymond Phang's sexy legs

Here’s Raymond’s sexy legs with Baileys our mascot + security officer. All who come to our studio have to pass his security checks before they can even get near the couch area. He’ll sniff and sniff to make sure you’re not hiding any food in your pocket to munch on secretly in the midst of our discussion. :P

.

.

Jann and Terence actual day wedding

I love this picture because Jann look very bright and radiant here! The night before she couldn’t get to sleep, and it was almost 12midnight already yet she’s still conversing with me via SMS! Must be too gan jiong already. But glad she still managed to keep up the good mood and not appear grumpy! :D

Jann working hard on her actual day wedding

Hard at work! Hey, it’s your special day!! Throw away the darn laptop!!

Raymond Phang the wedding photographer gets to contribute to the gate crashing

I think very soon Raymond will be famed for his sexy lipstick marks. The sisters were preparing games for gatecrashing and decided to rope Raymond in as well! Jann applied lip gloss on him and got him to put his marking on a piece of paper for Terence and the merrymen to choose. Guess whose lipstick mark did they chose? RAYMOND’S!! MUWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

Father and Mother putting on the wedding veil for the bride

A kiss from the mother of the bride

Love

Part of the gate crashing where they had to use their belts + shoes to form lovey dovey words… like “Love You”.

Groom at Gatecrashing

Wig reminds me of one of our past couple whose wedding we shot earlier this year in May….

Mother of bride entrusting daughter to the groom

Mummy handing her precious daughter to Terence.

tears of joy from the bride's mum

And she teared. So touching! :(

Happy that the daughter is finally married to a good man

I share this love and hate feeling for moments like this. I love it when Raymond managed to capture all these wonderful emotions on frame, yet I hate to see anyone crying. Not because I don’t like it when people cry, but because the feeling of seperation makes me sad. Oh well, gotta get used to it I guess.

Commonly seen in Cantonese tradition - the red umbrella

Love pretty red umbrellas!

Raymond Phang Photography signature car shot

And as always, Raymond Phang’s signature car shot taken during the actual day wedding.

They went outdoor for a quickie shoot, and here’s one of the group shots!

Love the framing.

Groom unveiling for the bride

Terence removing the veil for Jann, and tried to wack her with the veil! Muwahahahaha~

Groom adjusting bride's gown

And then… hiak hiak hiak! Love Jann’s smile! Very beautiful! :)

Bride's very nice heels

Groom with bride

I super love this one!!! Surprised me when I browsed through the 888 images (Yup! Such an auspicious number!) he took for the morning session and I spotted this! Amazing that even though he’s sick and half dead after a long day of wedding plus only 2-3 hours of sleep the previous night, he still managed to put in the effort to think of something different! So cute! :D

Outdoor photo shoot on actual day wedding

The veil that looks like a horse

I cropped out this one on purpose just because I like it. Hahaha! It’s for my own personal collection. Raymond did a series for the outdoor and I took out 1 of the images from the series for this. Don’t you think the veil looks like the shape of a horse?? If I didn’t crop it out, the whole picture will look as though Jann is setting off a white horse from the left and it is galloping towards Terence who is standing on the right. Haha.

Hope you guys enjoyed this series! :)

.

.

Anyway, congrats to Eadwine & Jen, and also Ezra & Twinkle! it’s pretty exciting and interesting to see fellow wedding photographers getting married!! Hehehe. Cheers! :)

Laurie & Agnes – Actual Day Wedding at Asian Civilisations Museum

Sorry for the delay in updates! Been pretty busy with loads of backlogs and also crazy manhunt for our D-eye (DI) Artist which we would be making some announcements soon! Meanwhile, here are a couple of photos to tempt Agnes and Laurie who are currently based overseas. This was a wedding done a couple of weeks back and when they first visited us, Agnes was so concerned that I might not have food to eat and wanted to reserved a seat during their banquet for me because her day schedule was so tight with one event after another and Laurie jokingly added that the photographer has no time to eat because he will be capturing all these fleeting moments! True to that, I didn’t manage to eat anything that entire day but boy was I glad because we got some truly nice moments from your wedding day! Enjoy! :)

That’s half of Agnes and half of Laurie!

Can tell Agnes is in elated mood that day. She kicked her legs super high and held it there. Either she doing exercise or she having leg cramp. Anyhow, she has really nice slim legs + feet!

See!

That’s Laurie with his beloved sister – Liz!

Both mummy and sister flew in specially for the wedding. I remembered Laurie’s mummy saying eons ago, they need to be onboard ships for weeks before being able to reach Singapore. That was before air travel was commercially and easily available. O_0!

As you can tell Laurie and Liz shares a very special bond. They are twins if I’m not mistaken!

Finally Liz couldn’t hold it in any longer. I guess this is the moment where the tremendous amount of energy is unleashed. The brother she loved and took care of is finally getting married to the nicest girl in the world who so happens to be the girl he loves. It’s the heart warming emotions such as this that makes this job worthwhile. To be invited to see what most people miss and to document down the memories as it happened. The immense feeling to know that nobody could get this shot again because at this precise timing it passed, it was locked in frame forever.

Compass Entertainment has been around since 1991, and they have a comprehensive group of musicians from Pianist, Bassist, Violinist, Saxophonist, Harpist, Cellist, Vocalist, and various ensemble! If you enjoy the sound of Chinese instrument, they even have an Er Hu player! If Angeline was there, she’ll go mad and make small talks with the musicians cos she’s crazy about music. Haha!

The ending shot with Agnes jumping head over heels and Laurie hugging her like never before. Agnes is really in love with that guy!
