Wedding Lesson 101: Don’t Scrimp On Wedding Photography

When my friend was about to get married, she asked us to organize her big day. As she was on a strict budget, we had to find the most affordable items for her wedding. We had to ask for friends to provide the lights and sounds, and a relative to provide the cake. But while we were looking for ways on how to stay on budget, there was one thing that we agreed not to scrimp on: the wedding photography.

And that was indeed a very smart choice. Their wedding might not be held in a grand hotel or the flowers might not be bought from a posh flower shop, but everything appeared to be as lovely as envisioned by the bridge and groom because the wedding photography captured not just the physical aspects of the event, but the feeling and atmosphere as well.

Instead of asking a friend or a relative with a DLSR camera, we decided to trust the wedding photography to a professional. Because while amateur photographers are somewhat skilled to focus on a subject, there is still something to be said for professionals who have been doing the job for years.

They know which shots for wedding photography are crucial and which ones are just supplementary. They also know what the precise angle to shoot from is and when to shoot it.

It is not just point and shoot, mind you. It is also getting to know the couple and what they want because the shots should be based on their personality and their preference. It is not just taking a picture of the whole event, but also taking a shot of every little detail and turning it into art.

If your photographer can’t capture the whole essence of your wedding, then it is time to find another one who can. Your wedding isn’t just about your intricately sewn bridal dress or the imported flowers and the shiny rings. It is about you and your partner and the start of your journey together as husband and wife.
